I have been watching the ZooAtlanta page since that baby was born.. I love pandas... Mei Lan is a beauty.. and actually her name means "Atlanta Beauty". There is also a baby panda (not so baby at 65 lbs now) at San Diego zoo, Su Lin. They have a panda cam up and running all the time.... her name means "A Little Bit Of Something Very Cute". Su Lin is about 16 months old, maybe a little more. I was a panda cub addict when both of these were born.... they're so t-iny!! Su Lin @ San Diego Zoo http://www.sandiegozoo.org/zoo/ex_panda_station.html Mei Lan @ Zoo Atlana (Panda Cam is only Mon-Fri 10-5, but they have great photo and video galleries) http://www.zooatlanta.org/animals_giant_panda_cub_updates.htm

I agree its great to see the panda program & agreements with the Chinese Wolong facility working.. here is a copy from the San Diego Zoo on the progress of one of the pandas born there and returned to China when she was 5 yrs old. Amazing for a panda to have successful births with twins two years in a row. The baby panda Mei Lan at Zoo Atlanta is really cute this morning on the panda cam.. they've given her new enrichment items and one looks like a burlap bag that shes tried to investigate from every angle.. looked like she was trying to get in it one time.. I had to laugh.. she's so dern cute! Hua Mei ("China/USA") Hua Mei became the first giant panda born in the Western Hemisphere since 1990 when she was born at the San Diego Zoo in 1999. In 2004 she went to live at the Wolong Giant Panda Research Center in China, per stipulations of the Zoo's research loan with China. In September 2004 Hua Mei gave birth to twins at the Wolong facility. She had another set of twins on August 29, 2005! Female Giant Panda Born: August 21, 1999, San Diego Zoo Arrived in China: February 2004
We had a chance to see the Atlanta panda parents this summer. DS was thrilled to watch them eat & poop. Yes, that was the part he talked about the most... Boys! At that time the Zoo staff was not yet 100% sure she was expecting. We were able to watch them in their glass fronted home for over an hour with out a crowd of people. If you ever get a chance to visit the Grant Park Zoo in Atlanta be SURE to see they Cyclorama in the same park. It's a huge painting of the Battle of Atlanta with sounds and much more... you 'turn' around the sceen as it is a circle. Google it for the scoop.
Panda? I got a video of a Pomeranian puppy. It was a very cute little fluff ball, but it definitely was not a Panda. There were lots of edits, usually right after the puppy came over to sniff the camera. I wonder how many times he peed (can I say that on here?!?) on the camera. Snuff
Sorry, that was not a perma-link, it just takes you to the vlog. Let's see if I can find it for you. Here's one for Steve. Here ya go, Snuf! (Notice, since I learned how to do that linky thing, I just can't stop!)
