I've been wondering about this situation for the past few days now. He quits his job that he's been at for some time. He has no criminal record. I think I have read that he seemed to really love this little girl and spent considerable time with her. He comes home enraged, speeding through his subdivision. He is seen pacing around his yard, yelling and acting strangely. His car is noted to have been full with stuffed animals. He then leaves the residence with intent for his wife to find this horrific scene and at some point drives to RDU where he flies to D.C. and stays at a Holiday Inn close to the Capitol and barracades himself inside...apparently for whatever sleep he could get. Then he is led out, mumbling among other things, Bible verses. I wonder what was driving this rage and what led him to Washington? Is he from there or does he have some additional motive for travelling to the Capital?
It seems likely there was a break from reality with this man. Few people in their right minds would do such a thing and even fewer would use their credit card to get an airline ticket or room, all of which are so easily traced.
I'm guessing schizophrenia. It's the only thing that makes sense. http://www.mentalhealth.com/book/p40-sc01.html
Oh, Lord....here comes the "Let's pull the insanity card". If you even think, just for once, that this nutcase had no idea of what he was doing at the time of him taking his daughter's life, then you are as sick and twisted as he is, Wayne. You and Hught need to go play a nice game of "Let's love the murderer". You make me sick.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way. Along with airing that, they also called the house and aired the answering machine message. It is sad...for the family of this child...and sadder yet that WRAL felt the need to air any of it for ratings sake! Sick!
You are so right, there is no way someone who would do something like that could be mentally unstable. I wonder if you would feel the same if you got to deal with such a legal system at sometime in the future. I see that you even call him a "nutcase" but believe he had to have been totally sane to behead his own daughter? I hope that few sane people have that thought, but you seem to be more sure than I of who is sane with less than cursory information. I would watch whom you call sick and twisted for you never know when you will upset another sane person.
Sometimes I would agree with you nsane, this case is disturbing on so many levels, I can't imagine what the poor mother is going through, my heart really goes out to her and the rest of the family. I'm not going to comment on the father other than to say an eye for an eye.
Nice twist Whine. Just admit that you sympathize with the murderer and be done with it. What's next....a crusade to let him go free? Is that last comment a threat? If so, you might want to keep stuff like that to yourself. Since you claim to know so much about the law, you should know better. I knew you liked to sympathize with criminals but I never thought you would stoop as low as this.
The only one's playing the sympathy cards are Hught and Whine. Honestly, I cannot believe that even they would stoop this low.
Why would I admit to a lie? I know that some may like to sell their principles cheaply, but not I. I would hope the only crusade would be for the truth of the matter, you know that old trial by jury and Constitution thing? He deserves either tratment or punishment, but I do not have the information to determine which it may be. I merely like to keep an open mind, which I know is difficult for you to understand. It was not a threat but just a bit of advice as I do understand the difference and the law. Actually, you BELIEVE my sympathy for criminals, as you cannot know what is untrue.
PS. the use of the term "troll" was not you being called a name as much as it was the description of your actions ...
Now back to the subject at hand .... http://www.newsobserver.com/102/story/532035.html Neighbor B.J. Woodall said he had an uneasy feeling around lunchtime Friday when she saw John Violette speeding into the neighborhood in his stationwagon. "His face was cringing; he looked like he was disturbed about something," said Woodall, who stood in the yard talking to another neighbor as Violette zoomed by. Woodall said Violette was talking angrily into his cell phone as he raced up to the home's front stoop. Neighbors were in disbelief that such a brutal slaying could happen in such a family. "There is no way I can believe that anything that happened was directly the responsibility of John or Amber," said Terry Ashley, president of Grovewood subdivision homeowners' association.
Wayne, why bother, this individual has a rich fantasy life. You are not going to be able rationalize with Blues.
http://wral.com/news/local/story/1169104/ After several days of investigating, Allen said there is still no motive in the case. According to search warrants, police seized a kitchen knife and a butcher knife as evidence. The search warrant also named Lori McCreary, a neighbor who said she saw Violette driving through the neighborhood Friday afternoon. "I looked and I saw John driving the car. He was mouthing to himself. He didn't look normal," she said. Investigators are checking to see if Violette had previous signs of mental illness. When he is returned and gets an attorney, it is also expected the defense will ask for a mental evaluation
Any defense attorney who failed to ask for a mental evaluation in that case should be disciplined for failing to adequately represent a client. I don't think it is "sympathizing with a criminal" to suppose a person who would do a thing like that might be mentally unbalanced. I hope our society in general is still civilized enough to see that.
