Interesting ... Aug. 8, 2006 Council see Biltmore plans http://www.smithfieldherald.com/111/story/12.html ----------- Today on WMPM Developers Back Out Of 2,272 Lot Biltmore Development - Six months after the Clayton Town Council approved the development of Biltmore, a massive 2,272 lot subdivision on 652-acres, developers have backed out of the deal. Last August, developers told the town they would buy the property, off Covered Bridge Road , from Ray Earp Jr. and his sister, Mary Worley. Construction was initially set to begin in late-2007 and would be finished 10 years later. Developers failed to meet a deadline to buy the property. Now Earp and Worley are reportedly in talks with other developers interested in the property, which has been home to the Brookhill Steeplechase for the past 14 years.
ME TOO. Spoke with the people in charge of steeple chase. Its not the fact they are selling the land, they don't have enough people to set up the steeple chase and run it . That's why it was stopped. Just FYI!
Well..... Did they let the community know and ask for help? Not fussing, just haven't kept up with it so I don't know. Think if there's a mass rush to request it, they'll still have it/relocate it? Frogger
I wish. I think there will be a Steeple Chase in Raeford County. Where ever that is. Its in April. Don't know the details on that one. I wish they would ask the people. I'd help them. Will need time to "enjoy" myself there before I could work too hard. Love the steeple Chase!
If the property is so prime, why can't the homeowners in Ole Mill Stream sell their dang houses? It takes forever for anything to sell back there.
Hmmm, I wasn't aware of that issue. I have always liked that neighborhood! GREAT sized lots for me! (no I don't live out there, but do business there) Maybe a marketing problem? I know those homes have a nice chunk of land to go with the home, maybe the folks moving down don't want that much yard?
No amenaties. No grocery store, no convienence store, no gas stations that are very near to it. Ole Mill Stream is a very nice place, sure, with big lots and big houses...but nothing else to go with it.
^^^which is very appealing to me! Not everyone wants to have a grocery/convienence store on every corner within walking dstance. I'd rather live in proximity but have the privacy.
