Aside from Sylvan, I was wondering if there were other options available in the Johnston County area for those seeking additional help in math; specifically high school math courses. I was looking for something possibly during the summer school break to give him a jumpstart in the fall. I heard that some Wake County schools offer courses for credit during the summer. It was hear say so I'm not sure how credible the information actually is.
I don't know about the tutoring other hiring a private tutor, but I would stay away from Sylvan. Not worth the money.
If you are considering a personal tutor, I wold start lining one up now. Many of the qualified teachers that do this during the summer are booking up now.
Sylvan results are defintiely in the eyes of the beholder. I have heard praises as well as "a waste of money". I tried them some years ago and was not necessarily impressed, but I attributed that to the short length of time we used thier services.
