My brother and his family are coming down to spend a couple days with us and they have two girls ages 4 and 8. I was hoping for some fun ideas for the girls as far as some fun places to go and things to do. We have two teenage boys, about ready to head off to college, so I am kind of out of touch with things to do with these little girls! Thanks for any suggestions!

David... :neutral: Anyway, there is a place in Fuquay called Crazy Glaze. Our 5 year old daughter recently went there for a birthday party and she had a really good time. The kids (adults can too) pick out a piece of pottery and paint it. It takes about a week before it is ready for pick-up, so you would have to ship the pieces if your nieces live out of town, but they do have small pieces to choose from that shouldn't be hard to ship.
There's a similar place called (I think) "Pottery Camp" located next to Andy's Cheesesteak in the Wal*Mart parking lot.
You could take them to Rainbow Lanes in Clayton. They have an arcade as well as bowling. They have chuckie Cheese in Raleigh (pizza and arcade) Zoo in Asheboro Lake Benson has a nice play area, bring a ball or something to kick around because there is lots of open space. Muesuems in Downtown Raleigh....The list goes on if the weather is nice!!
you could take a day trip to atlantic beach... my girls really enjoyed fort macon http://www.crystalcoast.com/fortmacon/ there is also bullwinkles on buck jones road in raleigh there is also skating and bowling in clayton... ice skating in raleigh and cary the museums in raleigh there are other day trips you could take, but most of them would depend on when exactly they are coming.
They are coming March 22-26. I love the ideas. keep them coming! I already have made a list of a few things we can do or they can choose from, but would like a few more ideas!
Went there with the grandkids a couple of months ago. It was absolutely the worst experience at a theme pizza place I have ever had. Other than the fact that the arcade area was very small, the "shows" were not going on their schedule. At one point, it was almost an hour between shows. The water show was nice, but one or two of the characters were non-functioning. Service was downright lousy, especially since it wasn't overly crowded. It may have just been an off day, hey stuff happens, but just the small size of the arcade area will keep me from going back. I much prefer Chuck E. Cheese on Capital Blvd. (for a theme pizza place, that is)
my kids really enjoy bullwinkles...i don't usually go there for myself if they are happy is what matters to me chuck e cheese on capital blvd is way too ghetto
There is a bead-ing place in Cary near Academy & Chatham called BeDazzled. You can make jewelry by picking out your own beads & stringing them. I plan to take my 7 year old. You can also try Pullen Park, if the weather is nice.
The zoo will definitely be a good place. Its educational and fun...but is a long day FULL of excerise. The Museum of Natural History is a very good choice for young kids. Older kids may not find the History museum that intriguing.
