It is sad but this actually brought a smile to my face. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070225/ap_on_re_us/sharpton_thurmond;_ylt=AujXJe0mXky9prMuMYq4hy8EtbAF
No, because Strom was such a *****, I love to think they are related. For Al, I feel a little bummed but he has shown recently that he has a sense of humor.
I don't really see any significance to it. Strom Thurmond wasn't even born then and neither was Sharpton. Two people who had nothing to do with each family's circumstances. Is it meant just to antagonize Sharpton or garner support for him? There's obviously a motive.
I don't know and I agree with you, some one had a motive cause it cost some money. I can understand their probing of Jefferson's past, he is historically a much more important figure, but these two???? Quite possibly someone looking for information to use against Al.
Apparently the genealogist was hired by the Daily News. Look at that, I used my Voila key again!
"Sharpton, who ran for president in 2004 on a ticket of racial justice, said he met Thurmond only once in 1991 when he visited Washington, D.C., with the late soul singer James Brown, who knew Thurmond. Sharpton said the meeting was "awkward." "I was not happy to meet him because what he had done all his life," Sharpton said" I'm sure in 1991 Thurmond was just pleased as punch to meet someone of Sharpton's character also.
