IS that NOT the most irritating thing..........now my 9 year old daughter is doing it. I got 12 and 13 yr old sons trying to carry on a conversation with each other and I'm not sure "like' who is like saying it more.........like:lol:
Like, what is the problem? He is just like trying to express his opinion right? Like if we want to tell you what we want to say, we would like tell you what we were like trying to say? It is something that we all go through at some point in our life, it is just like not fair.
Daaaaaang dude!:lol: The word used by my 12 yr old that I can't stand is WHATEVER! I thought that went out a looooooong time ago, guess not.
i thought the "like" thing went out a long time ago too, makes me always think of "Valley Girls":lol:
I hate the slang term, "You know what?" That has to be the all time winner for the most ignorant slang term used to start a conversation. It holds the same rating as people who can't complete a sentence without adding 5 "ah's" in-between the words. My daughter was using it so much that when she would ask, "You know what?” I would respond quickly with, "Yes, I knew What, he was a good friend of mine. Then we sort of lost track of each other. I called him a few times ...yada yada yada... And I would go on and on with mere stupidity until she said, "Geesh, Dad, never mind." Needless to say, she no longer needs that term to start a conversation with someone.
My other son came home one day and was all excited about something that was coming on tv and comes out with, "OOOO SNAP!!!!" What is THAT????????????????????
HATE that one.....OOOOOH Snap is just a more polite way to say what they really want to say. Adults are using that one as much as the teens. It has been banned from our house as it is just plain annoying,
I think (though I may be wrong) that it started with the Disney show "That's So Raven". It was made even more popular with the movie "Chicken Little", which is probably when the adults started using it. "Cursing" is a natural effect of language, you can't stop it. Next time you hit your thumb with a hammer, you'll say something (or at the very least think something) equivilant to a curse. "Oh snap" is much more pleasent than the alternative. Tell me, if you disallow "oh snap", what do you allow?
It's not what they say, it's how they say it. Are you saying it is natural for a 8 and 10 year old to be allowed to curse? If so you weren't raise by my parents.
After walking away from my computer and continuing to think about it...what's wrong with just saying "ouch...that hurt"? I was hearing oh snap when they messed up on XBOX or had confusing homework. Does that warrant cursing?
