Does it smell "fishy"? "if you want good fresh fried seafood the best place is Barbee's in Smithfield on 301." We will have to try Barbee's. We have not been there because others have told us the food is good and definitely fresh but you are in a fresh fish market and it smells "fishy" while eating.
i have never really smelled the fishy ness but then i worked there too It may smell, but the food is god and they are very good about cooking it how you ask it to be cooked.
Not sure, everytime I go I get the same thing. Love the Carolina Bucket! I'm about ready for a road trip now!
Took the family out on Valentines day which is also my daughters birthday... I wanted to go to Kemps or Shuckers in Wake Forest but got overridden by the birthday girl who wanted to go to the Mayflower on Capital .... it was VERY different from the last time I was there.... what's the word I'm looking for.... awful! The buffalo shrimp at Kemps is the BOMB!!!!
Mayflowers in Garner. Ugh! We went to Mayflowers in Garner tonight. Party of 5. Arrived about 5:45pm. No wait. Large and clean restaurant. Friendly staff. All was well until the food arrived. Of the 5 orders only the one that ordered grilled large shrimp enjoyed his meal. That is other than his baked potato. Left over from lunch at least. One asked for well done (crispy) fried catfish. It was undercooked. Stuffed flounder, fried flounder and fried shrimp were not good. Of the 5 baked potatoes only one was fresh. Waiter brought out 3 more and they were the same. Then tried fried okra. Soft and undercooked. Needles to say we will not return to Mayflower!!! We are headed to the coast!
Carolina Bucket steamed clams, crab legs, oysters, mussles, shrimp, sausage, new potatoes, and corn on the cob Wow, that sounds exactly like the bucket we get when we go to Oak Island. Can't remember the name of the restaurant but it is awesome and way too much food, we always have leftovers the next day:-D
