Admittedly, when I rolled over the topic, it showed the 'name' of the individual before even clicking on it...but I was shocked by it initially. My first reaction was "when did they let Charles Manson out of prison?" He's had a hard life, but much was brought on by himself.

Actually, my father-in-law claims that his band played against Van Halen's band (before it was Van Halen) in some kind of contest and actually won. He and Van Halen are the same age, but never knew each other before or since. He said that Eddie went ballistic when he lost. My wife says that her dad was quite a guitar player when he was young.

 

It's so sad - Ozzy is in better shape than Eddie!

Wonder if this is why Van Halen cancelled the reunion tour.

 

I haven't followed anything about the reunion tour, but a guy I work with is all excited over it. He said that Eddie Van Halens son was going to be taking his place with the group. I don't know if thats right or not.. just what he said.

There's really several "old guy" rockers that are in pretty good shape. Gene Simmons comes to mind and he claims he's never been drunk and only "accidently" had some pot brownies at some birthday party. Hard to believe, but that is the claim. Eric Clapton was known to do drugs and drink and he's fairly polished for his age as is Ted Nugent.

I think Van Halen members likely just partied all the time. David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen both look like they've had hard lives.

LOL <----not really, as it isn't a funny subject. I've had a best friend or two choose a different path than myself. And though my path isn't the straightest or smoothest, it is by far better than some. :-(

But.... If I'm gonna be habitually jacked up on coke I don't think a little meth would scare me off. :neutral:
