It depends on what the final price sells for... It is then a percentage. It depends on the sale price and I think the max it 3%.... Having a reserve cost money, buy it now cost, and so does a few other things. But nothing is too expensive! I mean if we sold a camera for $100 and we would use a reserve then the final price we lost was bout $6.00 or so.... But you generally add a few dollars (we added about $1.50) to the shipping price to re coupe the fees a little and the price on the box/tape/ and etc.
i was wondering the same thing - i have bought plenty but have never sold anything. We have a pair of lamps that were passed down to us that are made of deer hooves:shock:. We have no use for them (or desire:lol but figure there probably is someone out there that would for a hunting lodge or something.
There is also a listing fee which depends on how much you start your bidding at. And if you accept credit card payments from PayPal, you'll be charged a fee there too.
Today (till 3am our time) is an E-Bay Sale, listing fees are cut. Check E-Bay for Details. We only list when there is a SALE! Good Luck & Happy Bidding.
in general, you can expect 10 to 15% of the total ending price to be sucked up by fees. this does vary based on features, starting price (if it's an expensive item. they charge a sliding percentage like 2.1 to 1.2 percent based on starting bid) etc....
Use Craig's list and forget paying any fees. I have bought and sold on there and haven't had a problem yet. Other than getting some fantastic deals. http://raleigh.craigslist.org/
never sold anything but I love to buy stuff when I can. Got a lot of coins on there and have done great with buying prom dresses and such for my kiddo. Watch the hipping costs though - sone folks are ridulous. eq: 35.00 to ship a dress from SC??? my foot!
I agree...Craig's List is great but you have to act fast if you see something you really want....especially in the "Free" section. Lots of good deals on other sections. I missed out on a pair of beach pictures I really wanted. e-mailed the lady within minutes of viewing the "new" posting and they were already gone! I check them every day (after checking 40/42 first of course!!!! Great deals there lots of times, too.) The classifieds are terrific place to buy and sell. Have had much luck doing both there!
You don't have to pay a final value fee on the shipping costs so some people make the shipping higher so they can start with a lower bidding price and get what they want for an item without having to do a reserve. Also, some sellers reimburse themselves all their fees through their shipping costs.
Just be careful with coins from EBAY. Many of them are fakes, counterfeits out of China. swamperbob22@aol.com is a very good source to have coins checked out. He can usually tell from the pics on EBAY is they are legit or not. Generally he doesn't charge anyone for forwarding him a link of a picture and telling them if its legit or not...and he's local (lives in Lansing subdivision)
