Actually i meant to bring a flyer i received about this yesterday and post it today but forgot it at home. There is a group of concerned citizens planning on attending this meeting to try to stop all the commercial growth on that corner considering the whole area is residential (with the exception of the daycare). i signed a petition that was being circulated in the neighborhoods a couple weeks ago and intend on being at that meeting.

If anyone is interested, i will post the name of the one heading up the opposition when i get home tonight with a contact #.

Edited to add: The lot they are attempting to put this on is right between a home and the daycare center:shock: Bad enough to have that right beside someone's home but right beside a daycare center too. The traffic up at that corner is a nightmare now, can you imagine with a carwash:!:

They will not listen to the citizens

Given their recent history they will not listen to the citizens. They want growth and they do not care where it goes. Is it in the Developers best interest? Then it will be approved unless it is near a planning board member's house. Wish you the best of luck with it though.

K-Send me the details. Or call me or something. I'll sign the petition and go to the meeting with you.

 That is one of the WORST things they can put in beside a DAYCARE! Won't the county listen?!!

    Kaci, send out the info...

Why is a Gas Station near a daycare a bad thing? The gas stations these days are very safe. I only would worry about the canopy blowing off during a Hurricane and hitting the houses.

Did any one else notice this:

Matthews Farm Phase 3 (78 lots on 105.314 acres): Matthews Road (SR 1509) just before its end in Cleveland Township.

That makes for a LOT MORE traffic on a DEAD END ROAD.

That's not my concern, it being near the daycare.

My concern is the growth on that corner. That area is primarily residential, and because I live there, I'd like to keep it that way. Selfish or not, lol.

That's absolutely true, but have you noticed most of 1010 is becoming commercial with residential behind it. I feel bad for the people that actually live on 1010. One day they may be forced to sell so that their is no residential on 1010 at all. Some of those houses are so close to the road it is dangerous. I hated when DR Wells was built but it is a good thing now. People hated when The Gas Station was built on Barber Mill Road and it was a hit. And now with the 70 bypass cutting thru everything, traffic is a big mess where ever you go in the Clayton/ Cleveland Area. Good Luck with the petition though.

Sorry folks, haven't been online since yesterday, but for those interested we could really use a full force backing at the meeting. If you have any questions about all that is being opposed at this time on that corner you can call Stephanie or Tyson Williams at 359-3038.

Jenn, it would be great to go to the meeting together and maybe with your pull on the newspaper you could work the forcing of commercialism into our residential area into one of your editorials - we can use all the help we can get at this point. Give Stephanie a call, she is a neighbor of mine and really great person plus you and her have a lot in common - she just had a baby too:-D

They want to build a gas station/car wash in between the nice big white house and the daycare? Is there enough room for something like that. Man, they need a high buffer. I would not want to look out my window and see that everyday.!

Bumping this up - the meeting is tonite. i am really hoping people will show up to put a stop to constant encroachment of commercialism in to residential areas. i am totally for growth but there has to be a separation between commercial areas and residential. Even if you don't live in the neighborhood this affects, it could help showing a force against this before it does reach your neighborhood. Hope to see a lot of familiar faces there:-D

Hey Jenn, just went to the website and it lists the meeting starting at 6pm but not open for Public Hearing until 7pm - that makes it a little easier:-D

That does make it easier, but I'd still have both girls. Think they'd let me take up the aisle with my bulky stroller? LOL

This is the same area on 50 that is just past Don Lee's going towards Stephenson's BBQ. If you live in Milton Pond subdivison this should interest you!!! The developer is buying up several parcels of land there and clearing it (as you can see!) Be prepared to look out your window at a Gas station, Dollar General, and a strip mall (which could include things like a laundromat).

I brought this up for discussion last month and pretty much got slammed about being upset about this. Got a bunch of "gotta have growth" blah blah mess. I'm sorry no one wants to look out there window one day and see a gas station and have to deal with the hassle of the new increase of traffic out of your driveway.

This is going to keep happening until they start putting gas stations in empty lots inside of subdivisions.
