I was doing a real estate search last night and happened to come across a house on Cornwallis selling for $9 mil. Traveling from 42 on Cornwailis, heading toward White Oak, it is that huge house on the left with the rod iron fences before the intersection with Winston Rd. So what will $9 mil buy you? 174 acres 6 bedrooms 6 full baths / 2 half baths 7,851 sq. feet http://www.hpw.com/SearchPages/Detail.aspx?MLS=Triangle&MlsNum=919638 I'd love to have the land but that is just way to much house to clean. Can you imagine the heating bill?
Oh, I love the sample house payments, ranging from $31,219 with $1,820,000 DOWN payment up to $61,706 with $455,000 down. Wow, just wow.
Is it correct The listing had the year built listed as 1875. The pictures are all wonderful, but no pictures of the front of the house. Where is this 100 year old house that looks like that from the inside?
It's gorgeous but it also is kinda creepy.........I mean 1875.....Y'all think there's haunts in there? It just gave me cold chills looking at it. I know that sounds weird but it did.................
Isnt that right there where the bypass is going past ... all sorts of road construction happening there right now?
It was an old carolina "I" house that was renovated. Basically, he built that monstosity around the old house. I do not think any of the exterior is historically accurate, but that is where the 1875 comes in to play anyway. I would think a lot of the insides were preserved/updated. I passed this house every day on my way to work and I am continually astounded by the lack of use this property gets and how close it'll be to US 70 bypass.
It is georgeous and totally modern inside. The guest/pool house out back is large enough for a couple (no kids since there is only one bedroom) to live in very comfortably. The owners lived in it during the remodeling. I do not know the owners but know a friend of a friend and was able to "tour" it back at Christmas. It has the most incredible kitchen you have ever seen. All of the landscaping was done by the wife in her spare time. Everything in it and all of the remodeling is the best of the best, but, surprisingly, it was very "homey" (sp?).
I would hope that anyone who could afford a house like that would be able to afford a live-in maid to clean it.
She does it all herself.....it's only the two of them there and most of the house is not "lived in". All the spare bedrooms are fixed up and decorated for the nieces and nephews (based on their interests)
I wonder the same thing too after putting so much blood, sweat and tears (and $) in remodeling. He inherited the house from his parents who bought it (I think) in the 70's
I'm not really into big houses. Just a house that is comfortable in size to live in is enough for me. Even if I had the money, I wouldn't be interested in some big old house. The land, however, would be desirable with the right funds.
Here's another pricey home in the area http://realestate.yahoo.com/North_Carolina/Garner/Homes_for_sale/935d1d4181b6758ae1ba9ab88f7d9341
I wonder about haunting with old houses too. My house was built in 1888 well that is the date give Leadville had a fire that destroyed records in 1905 so it could be older. So far now ghosts.
Oh, I love old houses. They have sooooo much more character than modern day houses. And I wouldn't worry one bit about ghosts since I don't believe in them.
