What in the name of ALL that is holy are those creepy looking hopping bugs that look like a hybrid version of a tarantula and a cricket called????? :!: I am at work and this makes TWICE in a week period I have gone to the bathroom and seen them! And it isn't conveniently seen as I walk in either. It's while I'm in the middle of my "business" that I happen to look down and there is a big, brown THING right at my feet. All of us can't stand them and the only one brave enough to kill them is our pregnant receptionist.... I know I AIN'T using that bathroom again! EEEEEEEE!!!! EEEWWWW!!!
I'm not sure what you're describing, but I'm curious. Can you give a better description? Size? Number of legs? Colour? How high did it jump?
They are creepy aren't they!:lol: I don't like'em either but they are harmless or at least that is what someone told me. Don't know they name of them other than "jumping spiders" I stomp'em if I see them. yucko!
yeah that's what I am talking about, craig I kill anything that looks like that ... blach I hate bugs!
Oh yeah...........Craig's got it...........Oh my LORD. That is just disgusting I can't even.....whatever. That thing about made me have a stroke................And when your in "the middle" of your "business", it's hard to hurry up to get the heck outa there!!!
So that's what those are!! I'd never seen them before moving down here. I agree...............EEEWWWWW!!!!!
:lol::lol::lol::lol: I knew you had to be talking about camel crickets even before I scrolled down and saw the the picture. They are ugly things, aren't they? At least they're harmless.
I've heard them called camel crickets but mostly just "jumping spiders". All I know is they're UGLY and they scare the bejeezers out of me! I squashed one once and it musta' been pregnant because about a 100 little jumping babies started hopping every where. Had the whole family hopping around trying to sqaush those ugly things! Spayed Raid in every corner and under the kitchen cabinets. Haven't seen any more in a long time and hope I never see one again! YUCK!
They look like they can harm you. I still don't like them. They make me scream loud. Why so they have to be so big and hang out in the bathtub.
No they can't harm me...but they can give me heart palpatations! I'm all about not killing anything that God created (except maybe a snake, a cockroach, or rat)...just can't stand those creatures, but I wish they'd stay in the garden where they belong.
We've got some "wolf" spiders in the garage on occasion, we had one so big last year, we thought it was a mouse!! HATE those things. We spray for them, but they must hang out waiting for the day the stuff wears off! I'll take the camel crickets any day!
I'm not any good at posting pic's, it takes me forever, but here is a link.................. http://www.ento.okstate.edu/ddd/insects/wolfspider.htm You gotta love it when you go to squish one and all those babies start running everywhere.
We always called them "jumping bugs" when we were little. They would hang out in the downstairs laundry room where it was cooler as the house was a split level. You'd turn on the light, see it and scream, and it would start jumping all over the place, which would cause more screaming, then more jumping and it was just a never ending cycle... Thanks for the picture and the true name.
I've always heard that the camel crickets were more apt to be in houses that are on concret slab. My house is on concrete slab and some years they are much worse than others.
When my grandmother passed away and we were cleaning out the house, we lifted the outside basement doors and there were (literally) millions of those in there...I didn't hang around to see what happened. Daddy left the door opened for a few days and most went away. Hate 'em
