Well, I hope that everything gets better for you and yours... (I remember a quote from somewhere...my synapses are getting older, so I don't remember where, but the quote is "going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than sitting in a parking lot makes you a car"... it's all about the heart...be blessed!) ann
I guess Fred attends C1.5 when he is not busy teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Clayton. http://www.dunndailyrecord.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=85982&TM=79516 How many people who do not live in NC have ever heard of Fred Smith? This guy is not even a very good liar.
We DO live here! I have been an active member of C3 church for 3 years now and I am sorry that you are unhappy with the construction. The members and staff of C3 certainly do care about the Cleveland community, as most of us do live here in the Cleveland area. We want our church to be a place for the unchurched to find Jesus and be saved. That is what it is all about. We welcome everyone to join us and I hope that you will be able to bear with us a little longer. I will be praying for you.
Do us a favor..... Get somebody from the church administration on here to give us the official C3 point of view.
Sorry to interrupt the arguing... but that poor baby doesnt look like he is going to make it... It is soooo sad. http://babyleino.blogspot.com/ After reading, proceed with arguments already in progress.
After reading the archives on the baby and his family, they have been through an unbelievable ordeal, going back to 22 weeks into the pregnancy. Thank God we have hospitals like UNC where they have the ability to try and save children who have so much going against them from the start. Our prayers are with this child and his family. I'm sure the support offered by their church family is a blessing.
:cry::cry:My prayers are so going out to them, i know Jordan and Patience and they are very loving caring people. To go through this, no matter what your beliefs are, is so totally unbearable for parents. i am still sending up prayers and praying that His Will be Done for this family.
I am a special needs person in the Cleveland Community .I tried to contact the pastor of this church to explain a need the that I was needing help with...you would have thought I was trying to speak to the President. No emergency phone #,no Pastor's voice mail ,I knew not to try email anyway.I went thru 3 or 4 people then got stopped for good by the pastor's wife...so I gave up ...I just needed help in a small way and no one listened at all ! but it's nice to see they're building a nice sermon factory....get'em in ..get'em out.Same service just different times Yes I have attended this church twice...I'm handicapped and need help entering the bldg myself, older women usually stop to open the doors for me.On my second visit someone asked me if I would be interested in being a door greeter and open doors for people who come in...I just laughed and haven't been back
A considerate member All, My family and I have recently gotten connected with C3 within the last year. I have had a chance to get to know Pastor Matt and Martha. Obviously the size of the church doesn't allow them as much time to spend with everyone as they would like. Lately things have been really busy with them being out of town and with Baby Isaac. I have read every single comment made on this posting. I do not agree with some of the statements made by both supposed "members of C3" and those that are not members. As for the original post - I am not on staff but I am involved in several different areas within the church. I will see what I can do about getting someone to respond to the original poster. I don't post much in forums, so I'm not sure how I can get your contact info without posting my info or yours to the world. "peppercorns" I see there is a link for private messages but don't know how to send or receive any. Maybe we can figure out a way so I can get your info so I can get it to the right people at C3. It is not Pastor Matt's or C3's intentions to ignore anyone. Though things could have been handled differently or a little faster, sometimes organizations internally don't grow as fast as their demand - growing pains. I have seen this in churches and in regular businesses. Serving People is a top priority at C3 and they are constantly looking internally at improving themselves. Thankfully the loudest parts of the construction will be ending in a couple of months and most of the work will begin on the inside. We ask for your patience during this time. A few last comments before I close... As for the coffee shop that is planned, everyone will be welcomed, regardless of whether you go to C3 or any church. It will just be a place where anyone can meet and hopefully have some nice coffee and nice conversation with friends. If you get to know C3 and what it stands for, you will know that there won't be people going from table to table trying to convert you. If people want information about God or the church, I'm sure information will be available if requested. Lastly, thank you everyone for your prayers for our worship leader's baby. In the midst of the heavy discussion, the true side of everyone shined through when they found out about this difficult situation. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Baby Isaac. P.S. Please don't let the "extreme people" of any organization/church/faith define the whole group. Some posters may have meant well but just didn’t come across in the best/productive manner. C3's style of music or the way they do things, may not be for everyone but the Word of God is the same no matter what type of church you go to. The biggest message in the Bible is God's love and acceptance for you and I. I hope that if any of you get a chance to visit one of the services at C3, I would get the chance to meet you. Personally I like Sat. night church because that means I get to sleep in on Sunday (if my baby let’s me) and be ready for hanging out with my friends watching a race or a football game. Thanks for letting me share.
I would venture to say that maybe the shop will be near the fellowship hall in the building and not in the sanctuary, which would be considered the "temple". That would be appopriate since most churches have fellowship halls for church dinners, homecomings, meetings and such. If it is in the sanctuary, THAT would be extremely questionable.
Money Changers I don't have enough information about how the coffee shop will be setup and run yet. The original idea was to have a place where people can come and hang out and have a nice cup of coffee in the Cleveland Community area. And to answer the other post, the coffee area would not be inside the main auditorium. It will have an area probably near the foyer so people can get some coffee while waiting for the service to start. I'm sure there will still be free coffee but depending on what type of equipment that is purchased, obviously the specialty drinks would cost something.
I did get a call from someone there. THey agreed with me about the time of the work starting and will see to it that the work is only done during the proper hours, (after 7AM). As far as the loud music, they were not aware of a noise issue. Not that they are he said they would look into it. THat seems pretty fair to me.
Well Pepper I am glad that you got some relief. And as for the 33 pages of people hashing it out sheeeeweeee!
Glad they finally called Too bad they waited 8 days.......and let all this other stuff be brought up. Wonder if someone from the church will address the other issues that surfaced in 33 pages?
Finally...Some RELIEF??? Praise God that you DID finally got a "call" from someone at C3 about the early AM work-related noise. Even though I go there and have for a few years, I was getting a little irate about what was occurring because an entry in the pastor's blog on February 13th actually stated that particular day work began at 5 AM. I'm glad the building is being built...but even then I thought it was almost too early. That's proof right there. Well, I would write more, but I'm at work and need to take care of things there....my sanity has been tested there as well.
I beleive the money tables Jesus knocked over were in the Temple Courtyard, so not in the Temple, but evidentley close enough.
