I enjoy C3 on occasion. I have attended with some friends on several occasions, and have always had a great time. My family and I are just not in favor of such a large church for us. We love being at a smaller church, and having more of a family feeling around us. But, Pastor Matt is a great minister, and I know that he is reaching a lot of people, and they will be doing great things at C3, and I will attend more with my friends.
Ditto that! I like knowing that my pastor knows not only my name, but the names of every church member. I have a friend who attends C3 and is not happy for just that reason. She feels if she ever needed to call her pastor that he would have no idea who she was. I think that is sad. But...I also think it's very unchristian like to put down anyone's choice of church.
yeah well I am his neighbor and he doesn't know mine...... So to me it seems like there is only help for member - outsiders need not request. Some of the people in the area are struggling and our neighbor C3 hasn't noticed. I hope that there's is not a closed door mentality. Can you explain C3's stand on other religions and churches. I would like to know. Just curious. i mean I am just curious about the above question - not that curious has to answer me..lol oops
Peppers: In regards to your question the answer is... Even though C3 is a non denominational church Pastor Matt follows the Baptist background. He has to answer to someone other than God so to speak. There is still a chain of command even with Churches In the other thread it is true that he/the church has helped with Katrina & Tsunami & the plant other churches & help support them. Locally the only thing they have done & do is the Angel Tree every Christmas. I am no longer a member there;was for a number of years. I felt that if it is a GOD led community church then we would help those close to home everyday-that did not happen. I know this from first hand I am not just throwing stuff out their. One of the things he got rid of was the celebration on 10/31 for the community. He stopped that & that was a great community reach out.
Forgot the rest. He does not speak of any other religions but that of his baptist background I should say he never did in the past.
I support LI-bratz in saying that more could and should be done locally. C3 did do a canned food drive in Febuary for the local food bank. I am member and no where near being a leader or anything else. I will say quote this: Matthew 06:01 "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Just something to think about. Maybe C3 does more than talk about what they do
C3 question on membership? I am Methodist and accepted Christ as a kid and was sprinkled by the Methodist Church. Will C3 accept me as member by moving my membership or do they require I be baptized at C3 to become a member?
Most Baptist churches require baptism by submersion. My husband was raised Methodist and when he wanted to join a Baptist church, he got dunked. :-D Baptist's (and yes, I am one) baptize by submersion (as Jesus Himself was) AFTER the person being baptized has accepted Christ for him/herself. When my husband was sprinkled as a baby, to him that was his parent's saying they would raise him as a Christian, not my husband saying HE wanted to be a Christian. HE made that choice when he was old enough and then he was baptized. See the difference? BTW, baptism is only a ceremony. It doesn't make someone any more saved than eating Easter eggs would.
I was 12 years old when I accepted Christ as My Savior. I was not sprinkled as a child. It was my decision, not my parents. However as a Methodist I was sprinkled not dunked. So my question is to join C3 would I have to be baptised (dunked) or will C3 accept me as a member?
