She went to my friends neighbors house and charged them lots of $$$$$ (told them it would be cheaper over the phone) and was pushing other items the lady could have bought at WalMart
My husband has been wanting to get a dog for our girls to grow up with which I would love for them to have a dog. The thing is, its like having another person in the house, food and health care which cost money. How do you all do it? is there such thing called pet insurance and if they do exist, are they expenisve. Ro
We had pet insurance on our Elvis for about 2 years, but ahve since gotten rid of it. It really covers so little and the premiums are pretty high to me. Also, you have to oay up front 100% and fill out the paperwork to get the allowed percentage back in 4-6 weeks.
I have 4 dogs and all of my dogs are fully vetted each year, and they all are on heartworm pills year round. It really isn't as expensive as it might seem. Once the initial puppy shots and spaying/neutering is over the biggest expense is over, as long as the puppy/dog is healthy. It normally costs me about $125 per year, per dog for everything else (including heartworm pills). As far as dog food goes, I probably spend about $30/month feeding my crew, and they eat expensive dog food. :-D I think pet insurance sounds like one of the biggest rip offs out there. Unless you had some sort of champion bloodline breeding dog... maybe - but for the average pet, no way.
Per Dave Ramsey "Pet Insc." is a total rip off (OK, he said something like that). Word from him is that it is very difficult to get any $$$ back, even though 'whatever' was supposed to be covered. Dr. S. Lash- Another "I'll pass'', no thanks vote. We used her ages ago when she was still in the FL s/s for our cat... that was enough for me. We use Stage Road Animal Hospital off NC210 towards Angier. There are 3 full time DVM's there now. Best prices I have found in 50+ miles. Cat & Dog boarding & overall NICE people to deal with.
She came to my house and gave my cats a shot, I have two. I was happy and stunned at the same time. She took their weight, talked a little and the grand total was 350.00. Never again. I can not afford that. I think that was WAY TO HIGH for what was done. Rip off. I gave her a try though.
OMG, what kind of shot would cost that???? Did you pay it, i would have raised holy you know what:shock:
For typical vet care ... shots, common conditions/illness ... Stage Road Animal Hospital is very reasonably priced and the vets know their stuff. However one of our dogs has a rare condition and I found the vet we were seeing at Stage Rd. to be less than proactive to do some research in order to diagnose and find appropriate treatment. Dr. Beam at Clayton Animal Hospital has been awesome helping us to get our dog's condition under control. When I called for an initial appointment they got us in the same day and Dr. Beam had already done some research on the condition I suspected he had based on internet research I had done.
I highly recommend Stage Rd Animal Hospital. I took 5 pups there for their first shots and I feel like I got a great deal. The runt of the bunch went into shock after getting her shots and the vet knew exactly what to do! I was impressed. I like the Saturday hours thing but sometimes it can get busy and a little backed up there. Overall Turbo (the pup we kept) does not mind going and I don't either!
Good grief! Did you know the cost up front?? I guess not if you were in shock just like the rest of us would have been. YIKES!
