I know I should probably use some other method to discuss this, but I'm extremely irritated now and need to have steam blow off. :x (It seems like lately I've been dealing with a bunch of junk in my life and some people just seem to be rubbing me a little too much the wrong way.)

Anyway, I was driving back from my sister's about an hour ago (11:30 PM on March 31st) and decided to purchase some gasoline for my Jeep. I used the BP gift card and my credit card. There was NO problem there. I had another BP gift card and decided to use it inside to purchase some extra groceries, etc.

Well, I went inside to see how much I had on my card. The cashier (who had an European accent) told me I had to purchase something FIRST before he would tell me the balance on my card. So, I purchased a Diet Coke and used the card. The beverage was $1.38 with tax...leaving me with a balance of $18.62 on my card.

I decided to purchase more items and the total came up to $19.24. The cashier SWIPED the card and told me it did NOT work. I asked him why because the SAME card worked just five minutes earlier. He had already swiped the card...therefore, I fully believe the confused cashier had already DEDUCTED the balance from the card!!!

I asked him to ring me up again...and to see if the card would work. Just like before, I was screwed! The card didn't work. I told him the card worked before without any problems...and he told me in a very heavy European accent that the card "vould not vork" at all. Duh! Because he already deducted the balance when he shouldn't have, right???

I told him I would just take my Diet Coke and leave...and I did leave the items on the counter, ready for him to spend more of his quality time at work putting them away. I guess he deserved that, didn't he?

I went home and went online to see if there were any customer service e-mail addresses, etc. for BP Rewards Gift Cards as well as Han Dee Hugo's. I didn't find any at first...and then I thought of the forums here on http://4042.com and decided to let off some steam here.

I would like to be compensated some how...even though it's only $18.62 and the cashier made an error on his part. I might go back to the store when the manager is there and ask to speak to him. This really ticks me off! Morons! (Sorry...people really aren't morons, are they? That's a little rude to say.)

Hopefully, I can get in contact with someone because this was the first time I walked into a gas station and the cashier ended up robbing me!!!!

(Have any of you had experiences such as this? How did you handle it? Obviously, I've been annoyed too much lately.)

Whatever you do don't trash that card or the receipt from the coke. The receipt has a transaction code and the card has the account number. Both can be traced to find the problem in the transaction for the coke and why it went blank.

Flip the card, there should be a UPC. Use it to reference any contact with BP direct.

I'm thinking the cashier's till should show up with an $18 overage. Contact a manager ASAP so they can verify that.

There should also be a phone # on the back of the card where you can call to check your balance on the card.

    The BP Gift Card's Balance...

I did call the number on the back of the card...it actually said the balance was zero dollars. I do guess the cashier did swipe the rest of the card's balance off.

Oh yeah...this sort of thing did occur with me some time ago when I purchased some gas and used a gift card. The cashier that time did tell me I had balance on the card and swiped the card. They got confused and swiped the card again and told me the card wouldn't work because the card didn't have any balance on it.

I then proceeded to tell them that they swiped the card TWO times and the card was fine. After about five minutes of explaining to the cashier about the card being fine, they finally agreed with me and told me the card was indeed fine. Too bad this didn't occur this time!

As far as the transaction last evening, I have saved the card and receipt that actually states the balance on the card ($18.62) when I purchased the Diet Coke. I do intend to confront this at the store...but when would the manager be there? I still am trying to find the customer service department contact information.

Anyway, I do apologize if I appear to be irritated or annoyed. But, I am. That's how life is. It is indeed too short to be disgusted about things, but some things do present a challenge. We've just got to live and learn. In a way, I'm glad these discussion forums are here at http://4042.com because I can at least get some feedback from other people.

    Thanks!

My gripe with the convenient stores is how there is no uniformity with how they turn their pumps on. I'm a type of guy that likes to pay after I pump because if I'm topping off its sometimes hard to calculate just how much to tell them. What burns me is that some times they'll turn the pump on and sometimes they seem to be forcing you to pay first. I understand the concerns over driveoffs...but I'd prefer if they'd state to pre-pay on the pump rather than make me stand there.

I wish EVERY station forced EVERYONE to prepay. That way, there'd be no such thing as driveoffs. You know who ends up paying for driveoffs? You and I.

Maybe he put the change in HIS pocket after he cleared your card. Am I reading this right?

    Possibility

From what I heard, it comes out the employees checks. That would be one reason why I would never work there, because the boss would have gotten his tires slashed if he took my pay. Not like he is paying top dollar for that crap anyway

You are very wrong if you think that the cashier has to pay for a drive off. Its illegal to do that.

I've shopped at the Han-Dee Hugo's near my house for years and never had a problem.

The manager I know is pretty cool and I talk to him all the time.

Somehow I think that store might not be a Han-Dee Hugo's store anymore.

    Anyway...Here's the website

I would hope so! How would that be the cashier's fault?

I got peeved last week at a convenience store.

I went to that one across from White Oak Grill.

I bought a beer, a tall boy. It costs between 1.09 and 1.29 in Clayton. There was no price tag on it. He rang it up, didn't scan it. It came to 1.79 I said "that's kind of expensive." The clerk, who was obviously the owner, said: "It is more expensive because we're in the country."

I thought to myself "The country? You're a darn mile from a Target and huge shopping center."

I bought the same beer in a county with one stoplight and one grocery store in the entire county and it was still only 1.59
