I woke up with an ear ache. Not sure why. Any home remedies ya'll would prescribe?

    Thank you!

I read somewhere one time that if you pee into a cup and pour some of the urine in your ear that it will stop the ear ache. Mind you, I've never done this myself so I don't know if it works. Not sure my ear would ever hurt that bad . . .

Try some peroxide, that is what i have always done. If it is something as simple as a little water lodged in your ear it will clear it up.

Do you have allergies? The pollen count is very high right now. I get an ear ache when seasonal allergies start kicking in. When I treat the allergy symptoms, the ear ache goes away.

Peroxide is good, and if that doesn't do it, [a little bit of cotton soaked in warm olive oil. Just tear off a little piece of a cotton ball, saturate it in olive oil and put it in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. Make sure it's not too hot before you put it in your ear.] Don't do this! See Kaci's response at Post # 15.

Also, of course, there is the Miller Lite. That might work better accompanied by a shot of Crown or whatever you like. ;)

I found out last year I have allergies (lucky me)
I don't take anything for my allergies. Just scratchy eyes, sneezing, itchy nose, scratchy throat (not all the time) If it would just rain for about 2 days and get this pollen out of the air, I'd be fine.

Maybe I'll get some allergy meds today. Thanks girl.

Hate to disagree with ya kdsgrandma but putting oil in your ear is the worst possible thing to do. i know it is an old wives tale but it is a wrong one. My mother's mother did that to her as a child and she is pretty much deaf in one ear and has a loss of hearing in the other too and the doctor attributes it to the scarring from the oil in her ears as a child

Whoa, I never heard that before! DH had frequent earaches, and it always helped him, but I sure won't be recommending it any more! Thanks for the info, Kaci, and everybody else please ignore my previous advice!

Well the only other option is a drill. But I would hate to use that on such a pirdy gal.

    Over the Counter ear drops

Simalson ear drops -- work wonders!! I used them for my son's ear one sunday night and it worked miracles. I gave them to my SIL for her girl and she was amazed. I bought mine at Kerr Drug, but I am sure CVS or any drug store would carry them. They are in an orange and white box!! I hope this helps!

Now go oil your ear and down a miller lite and a shot!!

Hey Breezy, check the ingredients on the box - most of the ear drops the #1 ingredient is hydrogen peroxide - learned that as a swimmer and have just used the peroxide since then - always love to save a buck:-D
