Well, to make my point more clear, I don't like the "feel good" churches, either. The middle-of-the-road, say nothing sermons are a waste of time. Like I had one pastor tell me once, "If you come here you will get the meat. We don't serve Pablum, here". He also said; "If I step on your toes, just remember, you brought them in here and God can heal them on the way out the door." Now...THAT'S what I like!

OH......and that was a "new" and "modern" church where they played "loud music" (I played drums in the church band as well as trumpet sometimes). We also laid hands on people for healing (OH, NO!), spoke in tongues (GASP!), praised God out loud, etc, etc. Bet that would scare away most mamby-pamby "Christians"!

Don't be so quick to say I am attacking anyone.
I simply pointed out what you have seen fit to overlook in your reply to me. Lets go from there, ok? If that's being"snotty", then I guess I'm snotty.

I did not overlook anything. What I got out of your comment was what I replied to. Again, make yourself a bit more clear and let's go from there, shall we?

And, yes...you are quite snotty. I have seen runny noses less snotty.

Put down the gavel and take off the robe and wig. You should not be so quick to judge others. That is not your place and you should know that by what you read. Unless you just skip that part....

Also remember: People eat what they are comfortable eating. For example, you are not going to get me to eat vegetables no matter how hard you try to shove them down my throat. Sometimes you have to cut their meat up for them before you feed it to them. You can't shove a whole steak in their mouth and expect them to chew it all at once. They may choke on it and die. You won't build a following lke that.

Another old saying that might apply here: You boil a frog by turning up the heat slowly. Put him in hot water and he will jump out right away. Turn up the heat slowly and you have a cooked frog.

Then you apparently understood and chose to respond irrationally.

Saying so and it being so is two different matters. You'll have be more specifc where it is you believe my words to be, "snotty". I personally believe its the words, simply of themselves, you and yours object to. Though you may wish it to be, it's not my phraseology at all.

    Examples, please?

I am not looking a following. Most on forums as these are a following unto themselves. This one is certainly no exception. Everyone here is secure with whatever they are into and quite protective of it.

Yeah, John the Baptist said that, didn't he?

That last line was a "snotty" comebac, simply because I said it was.

    Romans Chapter 14:1-13
I take this passage to mean we do not have to agree on all matters pertaining to the Christian life, and we are not to judge those who disagree regarding diputable matters.

Not so? Then you proceed to show where another translation causes a diefference in the meaning to contrdict yourself.

So the different translations make no difference in the message unless you perceive an agenda?

As documented where? What of the Jewish religion which is older than Christianity?

The same as are the credentials of the other religions, but you ignore that aspect. The bible is the only "documentation" of your religion, which is a circular proof at best.

One can be convinced given sufficient proof, the problem is that religion is short on proof and long on faith. The need to discount any who do not believe the purely faith based presentation is a self defense mechanism.

Ignoring the similarities between all Abrahamic religions, how about one completely different in origin?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jainism

Jainism stresses spiritual independence and equality of all life with particular emphasis on non-violence. Self-control (व्रत, vratae) is vital for attaining Keval Gnan and eventually moksha, or realization of the soul's true nature.

Wow...you sure are full of yourself, aren't you? I am sorry but your comments make me laugh. You are the type of person that makes people NOT want to become a Christian.

And, you ask for examples of the judgement you lie down within this forum? Oh, that's funny! Please.....why should I have to go back through all of your posts when you can do it yourself? Now, I know that you (obviously) will not see where you judge people in almost every post with the smug and snotty comments. Sorry, my friend, but the high and mighty act has to go. You are not mighty by any means but you just might be high. I was wondering why you did not belong to a church. Now, I know why.

By all means, laugh away. I have been COMPLETELY OBJECTIVE concerning all things church, in these discussions. I have accused no one, personally. Not so with you, deceiver. Being quite subjective, by continually accusing me, .... personally, with your cheap shots, what are you trying hide by being so accusotory?

Sorry Wayne, but I am not interested in traveling down this path with you. There is a historical record to support the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as no other record exists for whatever you purpose to be equal to that one. Do with the evidence as you wish. I am going to pound sand. I find have found that waste of time to be more profitable..

I believe the man Jesus Christ lived and was crucified, but what is this "historical record" other than the bible, and other gospels/books of the bible that were not accepted, that support the resurrection?

orly, you have any responce to grandma's posting? or did that particular bible quote punch a hole in your oh-so-holy sail?

As I said it HAS to be based totally on faith because there is no proof to support it. If you believe in the Christian Bible you believe it proves your belief, but the other religions have their own proofs that if believed gives more credibilty to their position. If you can only convince those who already believe there is no proof but only that belief.

I can see why you would not want to go down that road, expecially since the proof is subject to variable translations, which does not impart a greater level of credibility for such an argument.
