Do we get good customer service anymore? Average customer service? What happened to GREAT customer service?

    venting....
noticed our general liab bill hadn't come in yet, called my agent and he said it was sent here, "returned to sender" (for some reason) and then sent to him. He's had it for over a week!!! The bill is due tomorrow and 5 days from now late fees would have applied.

Why didn't he call me a week ago and tell me that he had it?

    I'm so freaking mad, I can't even see straight!!!!!

IF any of us ran a business like that, we'd be OUT of business!

All I request is good customer service, that's all!

    I'm done.

    *******! (not ya'll - him)

    GRR! What a dimwit!

When I worked as a Front Office Supervisor at a hotel back home, we thrived on having the BEST customer service. Ever since working there, my expectations for cust. service are extremely high, so when I get cruddy cust. service, it really ticks me off. I also can't stand staying in a cruddy looking motel or hotel now either. LOL

You know this does strike a nerve!! How would you like to be a food lion, in a hurry, and this teeny bopper is on the phone taking her time . Not paying attention to "US the customer" and on top of that she was smacking her gum and had her head tilted holding the phone with her hands on her hips. I was livid!! I actually spoke up and told her to hang up the phone!!! We are waiting....Compd an attitude.

why do you have to call her a teeny bopper. You bad bad person. Food Lion can not be held responsible and you should not mind being inconvenienced as the reason you are shopping their is for price not service......

I work in a retail position in my night job. I would like to say that very same thing to the customers who come in with the phone plastered to their ear and expect me to respond to their sign language and intermititant verbal commands. Just once, I'd like to hold up my cell phone and signal to them and say, "Have your people call my people and we'll see what we can do for you. BaaaBye"

The reason customer service is crappy now, because our society has shed courtesy as an demanded social behavior. Not to mention the lack of "real" parents to teach it.

Amen ddrdan! Most customers today are know-it-alls who demand the lowest price at the expense of good service.

You do have a right to be mad though Harley. I'd switch companies.

In my constant travels come across companies who genuinely try to satisfy the customer. I would like to flag the Hilton Hotel chains out for special recognition (no, they are not a client).

A few others that on average I see great customer service:
    Verizon Wireless
Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh (my church but like any other good business they are focused on customer satisfaction)
Hardies Restaurants (I have not ate at any in our area)
    Culver's Restaurants

Note these typically have "Teeny Boppers" on the front line with the customer

It' not that easy to fire someone for not providing quality customer service anymore. As long as the cash register doesn't come up short, and they show up...there's little for retail mgrs to fall back on as a reason for firing. Whether or not they provided "quality" customer service is subjective, and thus hard to prove without a letter(s) from customers. The owners fear lawsuits without hard evidence that is documented and foolproof.

You mean besides the fact that NC is an "at will" state, some owners choose not to fire someone.

They do choose...but for good reason. Look...we have a girl that applies for every single position that comes open at our site...even ones that she isn't anywhere near qualified for. And we know that should there come a reason to fire her, it's going to be a hassle, because she will claim that she's applied for all these positions and was refused them, and that thus she has been discriminated against. Sure...all the company has to do is prove she wasn't qualified for them...just like the companies will typically just have to prove you were fired because of performance, attendance, etc...

But being in an at-will state doesn't mean you can't sue for discrimination. And defending against discrimination takes money. All the employee needs is a few pieces of paper - such as acknowledgements that they have applied for many positions...and their suit will be allowed to go to trial. While the truth will come out at trial, it will be an expensive journey for the company, and they will more than likely end up settling. And these employees know that.

Definitely true. I always operate under the adage that the person getting fired knows it. Always keep detailed documentation, but you are right they are always allowed to file suit.

Being in the customer service industry, I guess I expect too much. I give my customer's the BEST customer service possilbe. No attitude problem (unless you are a telemarketer  ), call when I say I'm gonna call, follow up with every customer...etc.... I'm probably the exception to the rule. I guess if I gave crappy customer service, I'd have more customers?

WELL, NO MORE NICE HARLEYGIRL!!!

It's on people! Watch out. ;)
