Did anybody see anything suspicious?

I live on Honeycutt Road down from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. This morning between 8:00 and 8:15 my front door was kicked in and my house was robbed, in spite of an active CPI security system. The damage was done in less than five minutes.
The alarm went off and was ripped off the wall, but not before the alarm was in. The sheriff was there very quickly.
Did anyone see anything suspicious? A large printer was carried out the front door of my house in broad daylight. Someone tried to get in the back with a pry-bar before the front door was kicked down. There is a lot of traffic on Honeycutt that time of morning and I'm hoping somebody saw something. If so, please contact the Johnson county sheriff office at 919-989-5039. Ask for Deputy Casey Miller.
This is the second time my home has been broken into. The Deputy said I have done everything right to protect my home, but thieves don't care. I'm hoping that by being proative someone will have seen something and we can catch these jerks!! We all want to live in a safe community!

That is really scary. I am so sorry this happened to you. My husband is making fun of me because I lock all the doors even when he's home. He is very trusting. I am not having grown up in NJ/NY.

I really hope some one can give you some info and they catch the creep who did this.

To tell you the truth I feel safer in the large cities such as New York and Chicago than I do in smaller communities. Don't get me wrong I prefer to live where we do but historically some of the smaller towns I have lived in had some very extreme violence issues on a per capita basis that bothered me.

P.S. I am thrilled that every one was OK and it looks like the CPI Security System did its job, it alerted the sheriff and our great Sheriff's Department got there quick.

You're right, that is a very busy road that time of the morning. I travel it taking my kids to school each morning and I saw the deputies at your house this morning. I can't believe someone would have the nerve to break in to your house, it is so close to the road!! Unbelievable!! You weren't home at the time??? Glad you are okay... that is what is important!

I just want to make sure everyone knows, I was not trying to be sarcastic there. My few interactions with them they were quite professional and they provided great customer service.

i'd say it precisely because it was next to the road that it was hit. easy getaway....

big cities vs rural? you're pretty likely to get shot by a good ol' boy if you go pokin around his house. per capita, country boys have more guns than city boys, don't they?

    glad y'all are ok

I'm sorry to hear about your break-in. Very scary. Also glad you're okay and no one was hurt.

Do you live in the Cleveland/Old Drugstore area? I tried googling Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Honeycutt road and the map gives me a location in Raleigh.

We've had some vandalism in our neighborhood and although I realize it's probably not related, I just wondered if it's near us.

Sorry again and hope they find who did it.

Kidsfly, that would be in the western-most part of the county, west of HWY 50.

Thanks KdsG for the clarification, I know where hwy 50 is. I grew up in a town where doors are always unlocked, cars open with keys left in them. It was an adjustment for me to remember to keep everything locked and protected.

    Here’s an interesting tidbit…..

I live, (in case you are one of 4 that don’t know, LOL), across from C3. On Saturday, April 7 th at about noon time a teenager or close to it was seen walking down my long dirt drive. No car , anywhere. He then circled my house and my barn. Then he began to walk around the empty house. She knows me and knows that he didn’t belong there, so she called the Sheriff. When the Sheriff arrived, the kid or young man, bolted through the woods away from everything. They were not able to find him and there was no damage or problems on my property or the empty property. In fact, I had two boxes sitting on my porch from the post office and they were untouched. According to my neighbor – who was watching – he never went up on the porch, just walked around. My dogs were going nuts so maybe he thought better of trying something.
It was no one my daughter knows and we are sure of that. Anyone who would come to my house drives. And if it were innocent then he wouldn’t have ran.
This is his description: About 5’6” to 5’8”. Shoulder length brown hair. White male. About 17 to 23 years old. Slight build. Wearing jeans a black or dark blue hoodie and a black watch cap, (taboggon). No joke. Broad daylight.
I came home about 45 minutes later and inspected the area, then went looking for his butt. Nothing. My neighbors got all excited about telling me what happened they called me before the Sheriff even left. We watch out for one another. We all should.
If anyone sees someone like this walking down the road in their neighborhood, I’d give the sheriff a call.

    from WMPM:
Three Teens Caught By Homeowner Inside Residence - Three teenagers are facing burglary charges after reportedly being caught by a homeowner inside his residence. David Satterfield told authorities he returned to his home on Russ Road in Smithfield around 7pm Monday to find the three suspects in his kitchen. The youths, ages 14 to 17, allegedly told deputies they thought the house was abandoned and were just looking around, according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Tammy Amaon. Greg Maxwell Haines, 16, and Willy Damreh, 17, both of Smithfield were charged with breaking and entering. The 14-year-old will face similiar charges in juvenile court. http://www.1270wmpm.com/wmpm_local_news.htm

I just started locking my doors the other day - but not because of home invasions, but because of neighbors who let themselves in!!!

I probably should have been doing it all along, since the ony people the dog scares are the mailpeople and UPS. He walks salespeople right up to the door - dumb dog!!

Thanks for the heads up - doors are deadbolted.

What amazes me is their total disregard for other's property. I also get sick of the kids that continually whack mailboxes off their posts for the kicks. Those things are expensive! Don't parents teach their kids to respect other people's property anymore? What happens when its their house and it happens to them? <grr>
