beach to take a day trip to? Mine used to be Carolina Beach, probably because it's closest, but so much has closed down, and I've been there a million times.
Went to Topsail for as long as I can remember...which is a long time, but now go to Emerald Isle. I love Emerald Isle. We just bought a home in Swansboro so we could go any time we want! Love it...it's only 8 miles to Emerald Isle and my kids love it! Topsail has become over-crowded and the "family" atmosphere that use to be there isn't the same to me any more. (Maybe I'm just getting old!)
Have you ever been to Hammocks Beach? It is awesome. The beach is pristine and very few people even know where it is. You have to take the ferry over to the beachl. My kids loved it (the ferry ride and the beach. It wasn't crowded at all.) Would recommend it to anyone. It is truly one of the last unique beaches in our state.
I so agree - just ridiculous to indicate you have such "insider" knowledge and are blatantly unwilling to share it. How neighborly. Jen, we usually end up going to Wrightsville only because my MIL lives there and we go visit her and then hang at the beach for a bit. The girls love the sand, water, and ice cream. They don't require much more than that, thankfully! The next 2 day trip we are taking to the coast is to the Pine Knolls Aqaurium. I have heard wonderful things about it. Let us know what you decide (unless it is top secrest of course)! LOL.
Pine Knolls Aquarium is awesome. We stopped at Emerald Isle on the way, but Pine Knoll Shores is pretty nice. My favorite is Ocracoke, but it would be an awfully long day trip.
I have to say Fripp Island, SC, and that's because it's the only one I've been to since I've lived down here. Oops sorry, I missed the part that said, 'day trip'. Fripp Island is definetley NOT a day trip! Sorry!
I'm thinking about Pine Knolls, but I was reading about Beaufort too. Anyone have any thoughts on Beaufort?
great seafood and fun to visit. If you want to go to the beach you have to cross the causeway. We usually eat in Beaufort and then go over to Pine Knoll.
Sorry but I can't get enough in a day trip. I have to stay atleast a weekend or a week. I try to take my boys down often to do some fishing. Just to much trouble for a day trip. Might as well hit a lake.
hmm daytrip to the beach.... don't have that luxury anymore. I'd have to say one of the many reservoirs. I live close to the Arkansas River and my fiance and I have a raft, so rafting is our summer thing. Before I moved I discovered topsail and loved it.
Fort Fisher, in Kure Beach. We spent several years living at the Air Force Base there, and now you can rent Base Housing fairly inexpensively. You can go to the Fort Fisher Aquarium, ride the Ferry and hike to the Hermit's Bunker.
