WJHS threat...anyone else hear about it?

Found out that there was an internet warning of a possible shooting at WJHS today. School did not lock down but did increase security and do some searching. Probably just some idiot kid wanted the day out of school. I hope they find out who did it. Parents have enought to worry about and this is not funny. My oldest is a Senior. What is this world going to be like by the time my 5th and 3rd graders are in High School.

 

I have a Sr. and Fr. there.
Me nor the wife have heard anything. Still makes me a little nervous.

 

same as it is now, probably. it was just like that right after columbine when i was in middle school. there was some mention of a website that was covered in blood (lol) that said something about a shooting. i stayed home that day and worked on a poetry project that i was lagging behind on.

 

Had the same thing happen at Clayton HS today.

I work in the school system, and we have not heard anything about this situation at all.

Although, Congrats to the band. They will be at the Macys parade this fall! Just heard on the news

JCS: Rumors Of School Violence Started By Students - Friday marked the eighth anniversary of the Columbine school shooting, and the Virginia governor declared Friday as a day of mourning for the victims at Virginia Tech. With so much talk of school shootings, Johnston County school officials said a number of rumors were circulated between students Friday morning of violence on local school campuses. Crystal Roberts, Public Information Officer for Johnston County Schools (JCS), said parents had been calling their children’s schools all day, but there were no credible threats. Students apparently got the rumors started by text messaging one another, Roberts said. Some parents chose to pick their children up from school early on Friday. At Clayton High School , Principal Jerry Smith elected to call in additional officers to stand by on campus.

 

There have been nation-wide threats of violence today. I must commend Mr. Smith, the principal of CHS, for his proactive measures today. Although I must admit I was a little nervous, having multiple officers walking up and down our halls today was a huge comfort. Now I just wish they could find out who had everyone so uptight.

 

I agree...whoever got it all started needs a good spanking.

YEp - I heard there were news crews and all at WEst today. Kiddo thought the kid who caused it was probably a butthead anyway - and she is more then likely right.

Did anyone else hear about this 4/20 get high BS that was floating around too? Kiddo said that the kids who do pot usually cut on 4-20 and go home and get high. Great. I'd grill the heck out of any kid who wasn't in school today. i beat the heck out of mine if she had stayed home today.....

 

420 has been a noted day for years.

Here is what my son said. A kid put a statement on his my space saying that there would be a shooting at west today. @ ambulances showed up at west because a girl passed out in the restroom, she was pregnant. It created a lot of the students to panic as they saw the ambulance. He said they had a lot of cops at the school today. 420 has been around for years....

that is what I got...scary. what is the world coming to?

Oh wow!!! My son is a SR at CHS...he is at work right now, but I will be asking him about it when I pick him up...just curious. I am so glad that nothing went on!

 

Everything was quiet today at CHS.

 

Got the automated call from Mr. Smith. Just a little scary when you don't know something until after the fact, but I am so thankful that things were ok and he did what he did as far as having extra officers there.

 

I understand that. He also made an announcement at the beginning of 1st block letting the kids know what was going on and that there were many officers on campus. He reaasured them that they were safe.

 

I think it's great that CHS has an informative principal. WJHS would read something in the Cleveland Post 6 days after it happened and never hear a word from ours.

 

The news crews were there to catch the announcement of the band being selected to be in the Macy's day parade in 2008. Officials flew in and they had confetti and news crews...the whole thing, pretty exciting!!!

Ms Honeycutt knew they'd gotten the parade selection a few weeks ago, but had kept it a secret from the directors because she knew there was going to be big celebration by Macy's, (they were flying to different areas of the nations letting the 10 schools that were selected know) and wanted it all to be a surprise. :-D

 

My kids go to CHS, my daughter said one kid they knew from middle school has a "hit list". On it was some kid who made fun of him in 4th grade or something. The kids thought he was more a doofus than Chuck Manson
