Don't know if anyone else has posted about this but i just found out last night and was totally surprised:shock:
 Not laughing about ODS being closed, I am extremely sad, now I have to drink beer at home KC, you kill me!
Old Drug Store (Sam's Tavern). It was only a matter of time. That place is such a dump. If the owner had opend up the restaurant part and made it part of the bar, they might acutally have made some money. On a side note, Magoos is up for sale.
Blus, you want your punishment now? DH and I really enjoyed going there. We were "regulars" (not as regular as most, but...) it was like "Cheers", everyone knew your name, the bartenders knew what you drank and the beer was on the bar before you walked in the front door. I liked it! I didnt' have to wear my prom dress to get in. Everyone was super nice and we have met a boat load of people who are just like us.... hard working people!!!!! Maybe the "owner" didn't want to open up the restaurnat part, maybe he was doing just fine without having the "issues" that come with TENNANTS who may or may NOT pay the bill and leave him hanging! With all that said----DH and I will truly miss ODS,the owner (nicest guy EVER), the friends that we have made there (if ya'll are here, see ya over the weekend), the Kareoke, the bartenders, really everyone there and the great times we have had. I'm sad now. :-(
Thank you girl, i totally agree with what HG said even though granted, we have not been in there as much as she has, it was a community staple and will be missed.
Girlie, what ya'll dont understand is... walking into a local bar everyone knows your name, knows what yo drink etc... It's awesome! You should have gone with me sometime! BTW, got any coupons
gee... why am I not surprised at that... I guess the kiddie-clientele wasn't bringing in enough to keep them afloat. I don't care what anyone says.. I still think that Sal has a hand in that place and was a very very very silent partner in it being McGoos. Maybe his lease is finally up and he can get out of it legally instead of raking innocent business owners (like Fishmans) over the coals.
I agree with HG. Sometimes you wanna go, where everybody knows your name..... I'll miss ODS, it was a staple for me for a long time. It really was the only bar I felt comfortable enough to walk into alone and know that nothing would go down, and that if it did, someone had my back.
I agree with HG and Kaci. I worked there for 6 years. I met both of them there. It was a fun place where everyone knew each other. It might have not been the cleanest or nicest place there was, but it was the best. For those who had never been there or have bashed it, I met a lot of great friends there. It didn't matter who you where or where you came from, you were always welcome at the ODS, Sam's Tavern, and I thank all the wonderful friends I met there. For those who know me, from me and my DH, we hope to see you soon.
I hate that is closed. I knew it was about time also because last time we were in there it was just us and one other couple. That is where I met JenS about 6 or 7 yrs ago. I wonder if it's a perm. thing or temp. thing???
We started going to Shooters, at first to shoot pool. Now, tho, there's a group or two (depending on the night) that I know. It's become comfortable. The bartenders are friendly and funny. Crowd's a little young some nights (I'm gettin' old), but that just adds to the comic relief. I'm more comfortable there than sitting at the bar at CDH. I like CDH, it just doesn't have the same feel for me. Of course, I was raised in a pool hall/bar too (mom's best friend owned it), that may be why. Frogger
OH man, I feel right at home, everyone is just great! I will NEVER walk into Shooters again. <vomit> To each is own
