For the record, I oppose ALL abortion and wish they ALL were illegal, but I'll take what I can get. And if the ban on partial birth abortion is what I can get right now, I'm more than happy to take it! ;)

To me, PBA is especially heinous because it can be done into the 3rd trimester of pregnancy, and because of how it is performed. If a woman is 33 weeks along in her pregnancy and decides she doesn't want the baby, why can she not wait a mere 7 more weeks, give birth, and then give put her baby up for adoption? Why does she have the "right" to choose to kill her baby at that point?
Another thing... as people become more and more accepting of PBA, at what point is society going to decide that it is acceptable to "terminate" a 40 week, newborn baby that the mother simply doesn't want?
What if the mother was planning on having a PBA but unexpectedly delivered her baby at 30 weeks (when the baby may need expensive medical intervention) is it going to become acceptable for the doctor to just go ahead and kill it anyway?
Where does the line between what is acceptable and what is unacceptable get drawn?

IMO, the killing of a unborn baby is NEVER acceptable (no matter what label is placed on the baby...embryo, fetus) any more than it is ever acceptable to kill a newborn baby. And I don't believe for a minute that PBA is ever done to save a mother's life. Sorry, it is too easy to do emergency c-sections to save her life for me to believe that garbage. I'm sure the later the abortion is performed, the more $$ for the monster who performs it.

Just for fun, read and ponder this: http://www.drabruzzi.com/infanticide.htm

Mainly because this is only based on ignorance. Sorry, but there is no "Just choice" for an abortion in the third trimester nor was there under the previous laws. There are "other" options that can be used, but they also result in the death of the fetus because the basic reason for the procedure will kill the fetus.

That would be propaganda or more correctly a misrepresentation of the truth to try to make this appear to be something it is not.

It already is accaptable depending on the situation.

The confused emoticon is appropriate because your sources have confused you.

You do realize the additional risks and long term effects from the emergency C-section as compared to the procedure which is now banned? The risk to the woman is so easily ignored when the truth is even more ignored.

Baby is pulled out to the neck, a hole is jammed in the neck of the baby and the brain is sucked out, causing a skull collapse.

Partial birth abortion is not a medical term. The procedure is called dilation and extraction, or D&X. It is used late in the term in cases where the fetus has already died, and has to be removed somehow or the mother will also die. It is also used in cases where the fetus has severe hydrocephaly (also known as water on the brain). Mild cases can be treated, but severe cases are always fatal. In a severe case, the head of the fetus can be as much as 20" in diameter - bigger than a basketball, almost as big as a beach ball. The baby cannot be delivered by normal vaginal birth, and if it is taken by c-section will only live a few hours at most.

TY KDsG. So if the baby/fetus has already died, why is it considered an abortion and why be against it? Is a mother supposed to carry around a dead baby in her womb? Sorry, I guess I don't quite understand....I will go Google it.

Ok I Googled it, and that is horrible!! OMG that makes me sick to my stomach! I cannot imagine even thinking of doing something like that.

When I read about that it almost made me cry. It sickens me that a woman can actually consider that. I can kinda understand an abortion but this partial birth abortion is just terrible. I think if a woman can do something like that- then she should never bear childeren. I may be a little sensative too. I was 17 weeks pregnant when I went to the doctor and they told me the baby had died. I cannot believe there are people out there considering this and then there are people who get pregnant, WANT the baby and then go through the heartache of delivering a dead baby. I cannot even imagine what kind of doctor would do that.

I'm with you. Tears welled up in my eyes when I read about it on Wikipedia. I said outloud, "That is the most disgusting thing!", and my bf asked what I was talking about. I told him I read what a partial birth abortion is, and he said, "Don't tell me". I picked up our two yr old and hugged her. I just can't imagine.

This topic is sore with me.

When I miscarried my first child and had to go in for D&C. Even tho my child was dead inside, in my frame of mind at the time....couldn't get myself to do it because it was (in my head) abortion but the child was dead. The doctor told me that I couldn't see it that way because It just wasn't the case.

    It was still hard.

(((Ro))) Sorry for your loss, been there done that myself. I think in your case it's a whole different story. You did not ask for your baby to die. Your doc was right, you weren't aborting your baby.
