County has only had one complaint

N&O has information in todays Business section. Article indicates the county has only received one complaint about the proposed plan. I guess all the 4042 posters that are not happy with this news are just content to complain on this discussion board about the traffic, environmet issues, etc.

Maybe we have heard so many different things that we figured this was BS also.

    This really infuriates me!

That is a little bit like how they reported on the support for the growth limitations. I was at the meetings, both sides were represented well. The committee only asked to see a show of how many people opposed the limitations.

I know for a fact that at least two people, including myself, have voiced a complaint about WalMart coming here. Either they don't listen or they flat out ignore.

I think they ignore, as all politicians do. It is not about us, the people. It hasn't been for a long time.

The meeting will be at the courthouse in Smithfield on May 15th at 6PM. I can think of at leat a dozen other businesses or service type businesses that would be of greater benefit than another Walmart. Isn't the one on 70 close enough?
And they have done a traffic study for the construction of a 5 lane expansion for 42, who wants to live through that? Not me.

it would be nice to have one closer than hwy 70, but the traffic is something i would not be happy about. they better get the roads ready before they open the wally world.

The guy that did that study said that the analysis for that area was a pure nightmare.

I quit shopping at Walmart months ago for ethical reasons.

    Wally World

Ok folks, everyone has to be realistic here. If there is a tax dollar to be collected the planning board is going to go for it. The County Commissioners have given their blessing to them because it just increases the tax base, creates jobs and who cares about increase of traffic and road congestion. These roads were built for rural traffic and the only thing to help matters is to build new roads not expand them and the county is not about to do that. I had one County Commissioner tell me that in order to help relieve the traffic problem is to lower the speed limit, I mean get real, all that does is just slows down traffic for some road warrior to commit road rage. I think what we should do is get rid of all these clowns in government and start over. Oh yeah when the new Wally World opens I will be the guy that greets you as you enter the door. "WELCOME TO WALLY WORLD".

From what I have seen she does, I don't always agree with them, but she does.

Is the Wal-Mart going to be behind Lowe's or beside it? Will it be right off 42 or do you turn at the gas station and go down that road?
