I preferred not to give the exact location, so just mentioned some of the larger streets around the perimeter of my area. :)

My home phone has been fine, but my internet was out about 4:30 and my Nextel just came on a few minutes ago. They said they had outages in Clayton too. I am in McGee's.

I did it online! First time I have ever voted on one of those reality shows, but Joey was great last night!

Due to having internal antennas in our building the nextels never stopped working till I was on my way home last night.

Course the home phone seemed to work fine.

Ok, i don't get it, how does a land based phone outage affect Nextel? i know they were both out at the same time, buy why?

because no phone service is totally wireless, once the signal reaches a tower it is sent into a landline on to the next tower or switching station.

Yeah i know, i hate that Sprint took over Nextel but i have no choice, in my business and DH's, Nextel is a must.

From WRAL article: "Cellular service could reach 911, but the sudden increase in cellular use because of the outage strained that system, and some people could not get cell phone signals."

Maybe thats why we couldn't use our Nextels too. Man we have Embarq so we had no landline, no internet and no cell phone!! Talkina about feeling disconnected to the world!!

So in the event of a real emergency, you gotta fend for yourself. I guess get in the car and drive yourself to the fire dept/hospital?

Since you pinpointed a five milea area I believe you have achieved your goal.
