If you were living here at the time, it was the talk of the town. It hadn't been that many years since we were having the bejezus scared out of us thinking there were hippies running wild in Fayetteville killing a doctor's family and then just a regular housewife disappearing along with her 3 month old child. As far as what us "old" locals have to say...we might would say it in a PM, but never on a public message board!!
I was living here at the time but was only 6 yrs old. I don't think I referred to any locals as "old", nor am I trying to be insensitive about this case. PM if you don't mind.
No offense taken!! I was 12 at the time and my mom graduated with her, went to the same beauty shop as her..etc,so that is why it made such an impression on me I guess.
Bonnie Neighbors case re-opened I remember the day i was traveling with my husband and two small children down hwy 50 towards Benson when i remarked to my husband about why there were helicoptors flying around the area. some time later we heard the news that Bonnie Neighbors was missing. Then they found her body. THe stories flew around and i prayed that they would find who did this awful crime. When I go down hwy 50 now I always look over at her house and think of her and I feel so sad. I am praying that they find who did this to her. It was so sad. Macy
A very short time ago the N&O had a report on this and I was shocked by how many people (apparently not from the community) had negative comments to make. Such as, waste of tax peoples money, should be using their time catching more recent criminals etc.. Shame on all these people and their insensitive remarks, may God protect their family members so that this doesn't happen to them.:cry:
There were a LOT of negative comments in the N&O. It's a shame really. People do not realize that this was a real person and the mother of 2 children. I'm sure her children need closure, especially the younger one. Benson is a small town, rumors will fly. Hopefully soon all the rumors will be put to rest. The case is very interesting for us younger adults who were just small kids at the time. Big thing for Johnston county even now.
This happened years before my time but I remember hearing about it once when I was little I asked and was told not for my ears to go play.If I remember correctly the person that was suspected was from Johnston county at least the person the community suspected.
I think I maybe mixing this case up with another.There was another lady who killed herself and everyone suspected someone else or something like that.Anyways hope they find out who killed this woman its so sad for her family.
