Me too. I just spent the last 2 days re-staining the deck. Why do we feel like everything has to be perfect when SOME people come to visit. I'd like to leave the dust and the dog hair "tumbleweeds" just once and see what happens. No one would say anything in my presence but my "perfect-southern-lady" great-grandmother would turn over in her grave,

For me, this is the first time any of the family has been to our house since we bought it last year. Well my mom was here when I had my surgery, but my dad, nor any of my other family has been here and the biggie, my husbands mom!!! She is the main reason!!! But I still would probably still go on a cleaning frenzy. Why, I have no idea because you know it is going to get dirty once everyone gets here!

We'll probably attend the service held at McLaurin in Clayton for all veterans who have passed. After that, I'm sure we'll be grilling with my mom and family!

See I am/WAS a neat freak too. But since the kids came along I have to choose between finishing folding a load of clothes or sleep/sanity/bath/sleep/time with kids/sanity/sleep. see a trend?

I know once the oldest go to a point I got back into my freakishly neat stage but then a new snot nose crumb snatcher came along... I guess my question is did you have a lazy arse hiatus?

Here ya go, found it online - the highlighted part is the only part that was on my plaque:

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth
empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
hang out the washing and butter the bread,
sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I've grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
    (lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
    (pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
and out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
but I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren't her eyes the most wonderful hue?
    (lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
for children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.
