It looks like the new Walmart supercenter will finally get underway after being approved by the commissioners today.Site is going to be beside the Lowes.
Super. Remember this at the polls. This is why I vote anti-incumbent.There seems to be only one smart-growth commissioner who seems to actually put thought into these things before the vote.
All the articles about the Wal-mart state that it will go to the commissioners at their JULY meeting. Where did you learn that they had approved it?
Don't matter when it's 'official'....the Wal Monkey is coming....all those meetings and such are just formalities. It is official. And I agree with 'Ready' ...bleck!
You're right... the commissioner's pockets have already been lined with developer cash to pass this deal, the meetings are now a moot point.
Yep, JOG...that pretty much says it all..... pockets lined-Check Wal Mart coming-Check Traffic nightmare -check end of story-check
I'm wondering if you turn off 42 into the shopping center or will you turn at the stoplight at Lowes? I just can't picture anymore traffic off 42 down there. Even with turning lanes it seems like it will be a mess. What do I know? I'm not the DOT.
The link to the plans were posted somewhere else, but it looks like there will be 2 places to go in, one at the light at Lowes and then another farther down the hill. It also looks like they are going to widen 42 to 2 lanes on each side with a center turn lane. http://paramountdevcorp.com/properties/_pdfs/4042SitePlan.pdf
the other night (last Thursday) about 6:30 pm it took me 14 minutes to get from the Waffle House to the Pizza Inn. If we go to Clayton, we go down 50 to Old Drug Store Rd to Cornwallis and then back up to 42.
Just wait, it will only get worse, and a lot worse when the Wally world is built. The little bit of widening they are doing won't make much difference.
I am betting the farm there will be a nail place, dollar store, chinese buffet, mexican food place in the strip mall alongside. Did I miss anything else?
