Need some help. My rider won't start this year. Ran good last year now I can't get it started. I put in a new battery and spark plug. Any suggestions? Thanks

I've heard that there is some guy named Ricky that may or may not be able to fix it.

    Sorry couldn't resist.

Sometimes the float in the fuel bowl will get stuck. If you can, pick the front end up and drop it to jar it loose. Or take the float out and put back in.

My hubby is a lawn mower repairman. I will ask. It may be trash in the carb, but that is from somebody who is taking a wild guess.

Thank you so much. I have almost 2 acres and the push mower is killing me, but keeping me skinny. LOL

(I am female.) I think so. It tries to start then it just dies. But the battery isn't dead because if you let it sit for a few minutes it will try to start but then just die again.

Nothing makes me any madder than a mower that will not work. Grrrrrrr...

Well, if we don't get some rain soon, it isn't going to matter much if lawn mowers work or not. Our centipede grass is pretty much dead. Not dormant, DEAD. :-(

Nothing makes me madder and will make me go buy a replacement any quicker than a mower that will not work!!

I have not had a chance to ask him yet. We were busy all weekend but I will ask him this afternoon. I am making a note right now before I forget.

I know you mentioned changing the spark plugs and putting in a new battery. but what about the air filter. If the mowere is indeed starting then shutting off then I would check there, the motor needs clean air. On most filters you can brush or wipe them clean and if it has a foam cover you can wash it out.
    Hope this helps...

It hasn't gone all the way and started. It just struggles to get there. I have to cut my weeds down, they are still growing. I have it pluged in again to recharge the battery. Don't know if it needs it, but makes me look like I know what I am doing. Then I am going to try to find the gas bowl??? Okay so I am everything you ever heard about women and man things.

The exhaust is puffy when it tries to start. It ran great last year. I only charge the battery for lack of something to do. The battery is brand new. I went out to check the filter, it is yellow, doesn't look to dirty. Should I not charge the battery?

When was the last time you changed the oil? perhaps that may help. Good luck Grammie-
