Look, are we gonna keep sitting around talking about this or are we gonna do something? It is obvious that the majority of the parents here on this board do not want this in our community.

    Let's mobilize!!!

Ideas - We can contact churches, newspapers, WRAL. We can do picketing/demonstrations...

Parents and other venues can provide alternative activities.

I've also got another really good idea.

You are absolutely right. That is why we (the community) needs to provide alternatives, that is part of the plan.

Not saying your wrong, I think something needs to be done. But do you really think that you can provide alternatives? what kind of alternatives? Any venue playing todays pop/rap music will have dancing like that. You going to have the booty dancing police walk around and stop it? You do that then the place will fall on its face when the kids stop going. Its a win/lose situation. It be good to get alternative places but how will they make it id the question

Previous post: I know kids do things their parents tell them not to, like drink, and even have sex. By my gosh, if you haven't instilled enough morals and self-respect into your daughters to not do this in public, then you are to blame.

Please remember: it takes TWO... parents of the boys are just as responsible for instilling morals and self-respect into their sons as well.

I chaperoned a middle school dance. These guys don't "ask" the girls to dance. The guys walk out on the dance floor and start gyrating their hips. The girls fight to back up against the most desired guys' crotch like a ewe in heat. You wouldn't believe it.

Are you kidding...middle school. God, please help me. Maybe I should keep my kids at home and homeschool them.

That...and the sight of a 6th grade girl doing a pole dance up against one of the supports in the cafeteria will make you want to homeschool in a heartbeat.

I completely understand your thoughts there, Ro! I feel like I'm a hundred instead of forty these days.

All it would take to close the place is parents keeping their kids at home. Obviously there are a lot of parents in the community who don't care (or care enough to investigate) where their children hang out.

What a role model. Simply wow. The little pervert in training looks about 10. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Av0QlVHrjLw&mode=related&search=

Remember singing into your hairbrush ladies? Well... those days are long gone, I'm afraid. Now girls have to practice their grinding in front of their mirrors so they are sensual enough when they go clubbing. http://youtube.com/watch?v=W8Mndt5yXE0&mode=related&search=

Also, I'm not believing my ears when it comes to the lyrics in some of these songs either! http://youtube.com/watch?v=928etH6yBQo

What the heck is Juking? Dear Lord!... "grinding" "freaking" and now "juking"... will it ever end?? :? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNkB2rmdSgI&mode=related&search=

I agree with all of you. but im going to play devils advocate ( ironic with my name), but what happened to free enterprise? yea the moron who oped this is sayin its a christian envoirnment and as we can se that it is far from that. But he also is not making the kids dance like that.. He simply opend up a place where kids could go and not be doin that stuff in a car or whatever. Again i agree with you all that it is disgusting but the guy is not at fault here, it is the kids and the parents who dont know where there kids are or know they are there but dont know what they are doing in there

If the club owner is allowing the kind of music that I'm hearing in the videos that I've linked to on here to be played, then he most definitely is to blame for the kids dancing the way they do. The lyrics to those songs are hyper sexual - talking about grinding... and stuff that makes even an old married lady blush! If this truly were a Christian atmosphere, he would be playing Christian music and would have responsible adults in there monitoring the kids' dancing and behavior (after all, these are KIDS were talking about.) It might not be a successful business if he did that, but to tout this wickedness as Christian is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of! But, I have to assume that the god of mammon is going to win this battle.

Your right the song chopice could be different. Like I said im not against you or anyone else I totally agree. I was just adding fuel to the fire. I honestly could care less if this place is open or not. But that is beacuse i dont have kids so i can imagine what it is like for the ones who have kids and especially the ones who have kids in the pictures

I understand that there needs to be more for teens to do around here. I have a 19 year old and a 14 year old, so I'm well aware of boredom. Movies are so expensive these days that kids can't afford to see but maybe one or two a month, even if they hit the matinee. Gas is so expensive that they can't afford to go "cruising" like we used to do when I was a teen (not that I want my kids doing that, mind you.) There just isn't much for restless teens to do. I remember being young and restless like that. They want fun and excitement and, unfortunately, they're going to find it somewhere. However, I don't believe giving them underage clubbing experience is the solution. So, what can we as parents offer teens that is fun and exciting, yet wholesome? Any ideas.

When I was a teen, and there was like a group of 8 of us and our parents would host "movie" night at different houses. It was a once a week thing and the teens would rotate the house and movie theme. Order pizza, have popcorn and drinks and then play games afterwards. This was more like when I was 14-16 I did this. After I got my license, well then we cruised downtown Benson, Sanford, etc.

I check back in and you same people are still upset about this teenage club? Really, my daughter and I are very close. Alot of the kids that go to this club are not bad kids. Dancing in a suggestive manner & "typing" differantly on a myspace, and you guys are putting them down. They are children. I am taking my daughter to the one they are having tonight. As should all other parents, unless you want them to go out drinking or doing something in a uncontrolled environment!

Hope to hear from some of the other parents I spoke to the last time there was one. It was great meeting you!

wait wait wait... ok. I was cool with it up until this point, cuz kids are kids when they're alone and in the teenage years social pressure + hormones = lots of pseudo-sexual behavior without lots of sex (outside of guys talking about what they did with a girl that doesn't really even exist)... but It seems sicker to me now that you're posting as a parent saying you're comfortable with it, you're there in the bar meeting other parents who are presumably just as comfortable with the situation as you?

Why does this sound like a mother/daughter|father/son hookup joint more than a dance club now? o_O

So by saying that, you're also admitting that a lot of the kids are bad? Whatever floats your boat -- I just know MY kids will never have my permission to set foot in one of those places.
