But I'm sure he makes mistakes. And I hope his punishment never involves having to kill an entire morning waiting in line at the Wake county court house. :x
There is no end point to this madness. The gov will take it as far as we will let them, and judging by the remarks of some posters here, they can take it just as far as they want to, unopposed. It's amazing how each generation gets weaker and weaker.
It depends on what kind of stop they are doing if its a license and registration then yea they are getting the minor violations and major ones if necessary, but usually when they are out at night having check points thats when they are looking for the booze and drugs not if you have a current inspection sticker.......
Ok... I am tired of arguing now... I need to save some energy so I can argue with my husband or my cat and dog when I get home!!!! LOL I think it is ok for the check point - you guys do not. That is all.
GarnerGirl, Try as you might, you aren't going to convince anyone here that you are perfect. Do you personally check the air in your tires regularly? Do you personally have them rotated? Oil changes? Spark plugs? Do you test your smoke alarms regularly? I'm sure there is something you aren't doing. Does that mean you deserve to be punished? Guess what? The world is not going to come to an end if I forget my inspection. And its not a willful act of disobedience. They keep a database ...so they can tell its overdue. Their goal should be to persuade citizens to make it right ...not punish them by sending them on a wild goose chase in downtown Raleigh. They can punish me all they want but I'm still going to forget something else before I die. Next time it will be my registration. On the rare occasion that I forget these things, just help me make it right ...that's all I'm asking. Now you're making my blood boil. A "license and registration check" is exactly like pre-wall East Berlin.
Driving while intoxicated is against the law, but it doesn't stop them. How would making alcohol itself illegal make any difference? That's the illogic of gun control. Some people think that if you make guns illegal the criminals will stop using them.
Im not trying to convience anyone that I am perfect but everything that you named in the above statement I do happen to remember to have them all checked when they need to be! Its not rocket science to remember to have these things done especially inspections they are once a year and you get a whole month to have it done!!!! And who cares about the pre wall East Berlin? They need to check for things like that it may help save your life or any of your family members lives as well.
It would absolutely not make any difference just make you guilty of two laws. The point was that the ends do not justify the means. should read the blog about why the gun is civilization. More guns in the hands of citizens would be a deterrent to crime.
I doubt you will see this in your lifetime, If this issue were to go before the supreme court again it would most certainly be ruled as necessary. Matter of fact, Why don't you and your buddies at the ACLU go spend tens of thousands of dollars and see if the Supreme court will revisit this issue again?
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Finally someone who agrees with me. These "safety stops" are akin to the WWII Gestapo stopping people randomly and asking for their papers. I am a former law enforcement officer, and I can't beleive these things are even allowed to happen by the legal system around here. Unreasonable search and seizure is against the law, not to mention the fact that these officers have no probable cause to stop these people. A number of years ago, my wife went out with some friends for a drink after work. She had ONE mixed drink and was stopped at one of these things 100 yards from the bar. The gave her a breathalyzer from a "batmobile", and it showed here BAC to be .04, well below the then legal limit of .10. Well guess what? They wrote her for DWI anyway and called me to come pick her up. I went down there and raised holy hell, but was told by an officer that they were under instructions to charge anyone who had a BAC over .03 and that I had to take it up with the judge. It's illegal, it's unconstitutional, and it's just another scam to pad the pockets of the courthouse.
That reminds me, Stinger, I seem to recall your wife was having health issues a while back. Just want to say, I hope she's doing better.
No, not really. I guess maybe mental health issues due to her current marital status, but none that I can remember. She was in the hospital for a few days a while back, but I think she was just faking in order to get some time away from me
Really, I feel less safe know that they have done this. Monday I spent an hour on the phone with a lawyer over a flight Stewart suing a fellow passenger into the seat next to me on an airplane. Between all this security BS and the bonehead airlines Air-rage is ridiculous. By the way, I don't get to say this often, but I agree wholeheartedly with Josey, Ken, Pirate, Stinger, Clif and Steve on the roadblock issue. Might never be able to say that again. Benjamin Franklin
lol......there may be hope as the rumors of Grier Martin making a run at the Senate makes me want to go find out more about his views.
