Here I thought he was a myth, but it appears he and his clone work as Wilson County Deputies.

Especially love this part.
Nice, you fear a race car may injure people so you are going to shoot the driver!!!

I love it when people judge the police when they've never spent a single day on the job....

I guess you would have just stood there and let him hit you, since trying to stop the driver would have somehow "violated the drivers constitutional rights"

What's the difference in a deranged driver behind the wheel of a race car and a guy with a gun? Now, I wasn't there but I don't see where the Wilson County Deputies did anything out of the ordinary. The race car driver sounds like he was out of control and they were trying to stop him from using the car in an act of aggression. If you're on the street and try to run over a law officer, they'll probably will shoot you in self-defense.

sounds to me like the deputies were doing the job they are paid to do.

OK, a 3,200-lb vehicle coming at you is a deadly weapon. Police officers are justified in using their sidearms when life is in jeopardy.

What would you do if Rhodes' car was coming for you, and you had a choice of yelling at him, or raising your weapon? Not a tough choice, really.

It's not like they riddled him with bullets. Firing a service revolver for an officer is ALWAYS the last resort. The police did nothing wrong, and I fully support their actions. They have to serve and protect, and make quick decisions that affect numerous lives.

In this case, the end DID justify the means.

The police are not always right. I know it is hard for some people to understand that. I intentionally posted the article from the daily times as that is the propaganda piece used by the Wilson County Sheriff's to justify what they did. There are always two sides and let's review some from the other side. From the day after:
After a few days to cool off:
Again do not blindly buy the story that the press and law enforcement organization's hand out. Can you imagine law enforcement officer's pulling a gun on Kurt Bush in the pits several weeks ago when he rammed Tony Stewart. It's racing and tempers will flare, but it appears the Deputies were out of control and pulled a gun without the proper use.

I think they did a fabulous job! They didnt know that he wasnt going to run them all over with the car or not, so I agree with you "Just One Guy" I hate when people judge cops and other law enforcement officials. They are doing there job!

I support law enforcement and we will never know as there could be parts of the tape missing, but I believe popular opinion is that there was excessive force used in the arrest of Rodney King whether or not he resisted arrest.

Well I was a kid too so I dont really remember it either, but I do believe that he was resisting arrest and that was before the high speed chase that he led them on. I mean they didnt know if he had a gun, knife or any other kind of weapon.

The video that appeared came from a private citizen. To my knowledge there was not a camera mounted in the patrol cars, but this case may have been a key factor in implementing cameras in patrol cars.

Again Rodney King was no angel and I am sure he resisted arrest. It appeared that the use of force continued after he was cuffed.

Well, I know all cops aren't good cops. But I think some people not Rodney King himself I wasn't there and was a kid so don't remember it, Some people do use any excuse they can to get out of what they did wrong.Don't get me wrong I know there are bad cops who beat people but I think sometimes its because they brought it on themselves. If I got pulled over for any thing I am going to do what I am told not fight them , that makes it harder on me and them.

We do not live in a police state and we are ensured liberty.

You would be very interested in what El Pueblo, who is a state-wide advocacy and public policy organization dedicated to strengthening the Latino community, distributes to people to educate them about their rights when pulled over.

I'm old enough to remember a lot about the Rodney King event. Yes, he deserved arresting, not the beating he took. He was resisting arrest but not enough to deserve a beating like the one he took, which by the way was (not sure of the number) about 8 cops with their clubs, flashlights, kicking his ribs/head etc., and if I'm not mistaken cops lost their jobs over this and LA county was sued. There was severe excessive force in this event.

I agree with Pirate...if you haven't been in the pits at a track, and if you haven't had a tore up car and just tried to get it back out there, you don't know. These police officers need some type of punishment. It IS typical for drivers to go the wrong way down pit road at Kenly if they can't make it back around or if it's just quicker, he couldn't help the fighting between pit members and honestly, these drivers can't see all that well and if you see a car coming into the pits, and you don't have the common sense God gave dirt to move, you deserve to be hit. I've seen people hit and I've seen the drivers, and 95% of the time, the drivers only interest is in making sure the car isn't messed up too bad. Not only does alot of time and money go into these cars, but alot of hard work does to. It's an ego blow when someone blatantly takes you out. Sure Steven was probably mad, but he was more than likely trying to get to where his trailer was. That is why you don't need the rookie redneck cops on power trips to police these events. The ones at Wake County and other tracks KNOW what they're doing, and this hasn't occurred.
