In order to get life insurance at a good rate, have him stop smoking for about a month! Get life insurance and you're all good! ;)

I agree with you 100%. I am currently taking Chantix. I started on it 6 weeks ago but only laid my smokes down Sunday night. My first quit date was 2 weeks after starting the Chantix. I stopped for a day, then decided I wasn't ready to quit so I kept smoking. Ya see, I didn't meet # 1 above!! Now, I really feel as if I'm ready. I'm sick of it. Tried quitting more times than a few in the past...never was able to. Guess I didn't want to bad enough. The one thing that Chantix does for me is make me not really think about smoking. The number of cigarettes I have smoked since starting Chantix has really decreased. Some days I only smoke 5. Some days 15. But it all boils down to what you said above....you have to really want to quit!!!

Good luck!!! Everyone has their reasons for quitting and their reasons alone. You have to quit for yourself, but the thing that really has helped me is I consider myself a drug abuser now instead of a past drug abuser. This may sound harsh but it has helped me. Nicotine is an addictive drug and I will never let myself take even one drag now because I know if I do I will start right back up and I just can't let myself ruin what I have accomplished over the past 10 months.

Also, get yourself a support system. Even if it is online. Believe it or not it helps.

Well, he only smoked one pack instead of two yesterday. I had maybe 3 last night.
Ok, we haven't quit all the way yet. We are working on it.

    Thanks for asking.

My father hasn't quit either. He has just gone almost 3 years w/ out a smoke. He's testing his record. And just about every day he says he could smoke a cig as long as a 'backer stick.

Lots of chewing gum helped me. It's been almost 3 years for me... I think, I've lost count.

I agree with you. That is exactly what helped me quit. I am an addict. I didn't have a needle hanging out of my arm, nor was I hitting the back alleys to get a fix, but my life was controlled by when I could smoke. It was the only thing that hit home that remained a constant while in the middle of getting off of them. Nicotine Anonymous is a great group with online support.
Had it not been for this group, I'd still be smoking.

I felt a little dizzy at school today. Nicotine? Does it do that to ya? I didn't feel like me, I felt (trying to explain) like I was in a tunnel and everything around me was slow. Maybe that isn't a good description.

I quit using Wellbutrin, the last cigerette I smoked made me feel like
I was sea sick, when I started taking it the Dr. told me to keep smoking,
when I started the meds. I smoked 2 packs and that was it,I had been
smoking over 2 packs a day for years
