If time and travel schedule force me to eat at McDonalds, I get two hamburgers and a diet coke for 500 calories and less than $3.

I have a book that tells you how long to bike/walk/ride/swim, any item of food you consume....I am obsessed with it. I admit.

I know sometimes we are all forced to eat at the icky fast food places....knowledge is power though.....knowing what to get!

    weight loss

Ok, so far 170 calories today and its almost 11. I am about to get on the treadmill and do my 2 miles for the day. I am happy to report that I did finally see the one pound drop...hopefully from here it will just keep falling off!

BTW...Harleygirl...you disgust me! 121.5 OH NO! How do you live with yourself? Just messing with you...I understand that it is just as hard for those really skinny people to lose a pound as it is for the rest of us to lose 10!
    Good luck!

Like I mentioned, I've had no 'treatment effects'. If you stick to your diet and don't go over the 14 grams of fat per meal, you won't have gas, spotting, or any of the other negative effects from taking Alli. For me, it's a great motivator.

For the folks who mentioned McDonalds and Being on the road a lot - you can eat some fast food and take Alli without suffering treatment effects.

ie: Breakfast: Mickey D's - 1 Egg McMuffin, 1 hash browns (yes, hash browns) and 1 large cup of black coffee.

Lunch/Dinner: Baked Potato, Small Chili, and a diet soda/or water - you can dump some or all of the chili on your potato if you wish and can use 1 packet of the light sour cream they provide with no treatment effects.

Some of the salads unless they are bare bones contain more fat than you need, just check the ingredients out - if you want to find out some other fast food suggestions, you can do websearches for the individual eatery and their sites list calories and fat grams along with other nutritional values.

According to the Alli website, and many other weight loss sites, they recommend that you eat your alloted calories each day. They explain that if you go too low in calorie intake, your body fears it's starving and tries to hold onto those fat calories for survival. By eating at least three meals a day, even if one of them is a small salad, or some fresh fruit, your body will continue to burn calories and if you are reducing fat intake, it ends up burning the fat it has stored for a rainy day, believing that it's going to get some more fat in which to replenish itself. This is why Alli recommends that you take in about 14 grams of fat per meal at least twice a day - so your body will burn fat, rather than keep it protected. They also suggest weighing yourself ONLY once a week, preferably at the same time of day each week. Bodies, they say, can fluctuate as much as 5 lbs during a week (depending on the individual) so by doing the once a week weigh-in, you get a more accurate picture of how much you are loosing.

    Good luck!

10 lbs looks worse on a thinner person than someone with some meat on their bones. Trust me.

Down 4 lbs this week! Didn't hit my target this am of 120 for the week, but the day's not over.

Oh, last year I used.... www.fitday.com for counting calories, the amount of exercise I did, what I ate etc... may help some of you as well.

    Ya'll have a good one.

OK BB, first week is up today. I counted calories and I'm down 3.5 pounds for the week. (Could have done better, but had a few cheating days. And, of course, exercise would have helped too. ) Feel like I'm off to a good start and looking for encouragement from the 4042 gang to keep me on the straight and narrow. :)

    weight loss

I'll still counting calories, and running daily! Still only 2 pounds here...I've been good too. I'm getting discouraged...I suppose 2 is better than nothing....but I have worked hard for the last month...I deserve at least 5 or 6 pounds. I'll keep plugging! I will be in Alaska next Wednesday...I will post again when I return. Hopefully a 30 mile hike with the Grizzly Bears will drop some weight!

Zero weight loss this week. BAH!!! :-( It's my own fault. Not only did I not count calories, but I knowingly cheated all week. Was SOOOOOO hungry from last week's deprivation. Oh well, another week, another chance.

I've been meaning to post this since I saw it over the weekend. Walmart had dropped the price by $10 when I was in there last weekend. Don't hold me to it, but I'm thinking it was $39 and some change. I'm kinda waiting to see how ya'll do before I shell out the $$ though!

Doing well -3 lbs this week and no treatment effects. I did cheat though - went one day without taking pills or counting calories, but didn't go crazy or anything. Probably didn't exceed my usual calorie count by much at all.
