    Pop Quiz...

If you were planning a romantic one-night getaway, and trying to stay within a 3 hour travel distance from this area, where would you go and why?

Ken... how fast will you be driving? What are the weather conditions? Will you have a look out for the State Popos to give you a heads up since you will obviously have to go warp speed to travel a 5-6 hr trip in 3 hrs! dern!

and for the record...I vote Maggie Valley too

drive an extra 30 mins (3 hr and 30 mins) to Asheville and go to the Grove Park Inn! BEAUTIFUL!! They have a spa, great food, and just a great place to be! NC Mountians are calming to the soul and the spa is calming to the body! LOL This place has the best breakfast ever too!

or make it a real short trip and go to The Umstead in Cary! Just one night to have no cares except for how you are going to be pampared!! (of course it would have to be only one night for me because it is pricey) 5 star hotel and 5 star dinning!

Not sure of the accomodations, but if you're looking for entertainment, that new Randy Parton Theatre in Roanoke Rapids is opening this weekend (or tonight, if I'm not mistaken).

For accomodation options, you might check out:

Get the feature room at H/I Express or the Hampton Inn. Who need to drive a long way just to lay up in a room.

You get a beautiful view at Switzerland Inn and the Friday night buffet is great. Raw bar, prime rib and huge dessert table.
