While not intending to specify anyone in particular, and I certainly wouldn't paint with so broad a brush to say "everyone", I do have a theory. I figure some people over estimate their importance in the world. They get little pieces of (what they may believe to be real) news and believe that someone must think they are important enough to share this little piece of information. Then they take it upon themselves to prove their worth in the world by informing everyone they know of this "important" bit of information, of which they were deemed worthy enough to have bestowed upon them.
Interesting theory. Seems the "important information" usually consists of a grain of truth surrounded by exaggeration and outright falsehoods, so what happens to said important person's self-image when someone posts a link that shows the actual value of said important information?
Well, if they are, indeed, one of those who over estimates their own self worth, then they would get a heavy dose of reality thrown their way.
