Hi all: I have noticed some new construction going on across from the new Lowe's foods. Big trucks are clearing land, etc....anyone know what's going on there?
I believed they just cleared a path to connect waterlines and other utilities to the shopping center.
How far along is the Lowe's Foods? Anyone know when it will open? I rarely go any further down 42 than the Cleveland Draft House.
Looking at it and being in construction, i would guess the grocery store part will be open late in the year.
new construction The "digging" going on across the street from the new Lowe's Foods is to bring the sewer main into the area to accommodate the new businesses. I also hear that all the land on the other corner will accommodate a new elementary school. Anyone else hear that?
Whoever buys that land to develop (school /stores/houses) have a huge grading bill in front of them. I am sure that is why that corner has sat empty. It is in a hole, and a lot of dirt would have to be brought in. Now if the price was right that can offset that.
Stores so far I went to the link and so far only stores that have leases on store there are; Lowes Foods Barefoot Salon Service Dry Cleaners New China Star (Like we need another of these already have 2 lol) Lee Spa Nails Two Cousins Pizza
There is no such thing as a new school for the JOCO area if that little piece falls under Wake then it might be for a Wake Co school SouthernGal posted what is correct that is going in at the Lowes shopping center. It is to be open end of Oct first of Nov
I'd love to see another White-Oak type place go up around here. And a 7-11. I'm from Maryland and I really really REALLY miss those convenience stores where you can stop 24/7 and buy milk and bread (oh and cheaper gas). Handy Hugo stores are the pits. So is the Food Lion. I'm disappointed in the stores rumored to be going into the new Lowe's shopping center but at least I can soon stop using the crap Food Lion to pick up little things.
Yeah, that's just what we need. Forget the traffic problems we already have, we need a Kohl's NOW. You know, it never ceases to amaze me how many yankees move here because they can't stand living in the city, then Enlightened person about living in the country. Don't worry, you'll have 40/42 in the same shape as the place you moved from in no time.
I am not a yankee but remind me to never make you mad lol It is to crowded here already. I would rather drive to garner or clayton than have all these stores in my backyard . The traffic is so bad here already why they wanna add more. No offense but 40/42 looks like crap its rundown looking already too many stores cramped in a small area. The roads are crap and people pulling out in front of everyone . I do not go there because its just a crapstorm imo it was not well thought out.
the other side of 42/50 is considered wake co. I was not sure of what area they are talking across from the new lowes or across from the car place sorry
The county line is a mile or so down 42 toward Fuquay, and a couple of miles up 50, so that whole area right around the intersection of 42/50 is in Johnston County. When you drive up 50, it almost looks like they're putting in a road or something across from Lowe's. I guess that would be the southeast corner of the intersection. Anyway, I think the explanation about the sewer main makes sense.
