    Mr. Ice Cream truck man:

Did it ever occur to you that when you drive down the street right before supper you leave in your wake scores of crying children and highly PO'd parents?

Did it ever occur to you that we don't appreciate you blackmailing us by enticing our kids then ripping us off?

Do you realize we have freezers in our houses with non-ridiculously-priced ice cream and don't really need the "services" you provide.

Instead of ice cream, why don't you come by my house selling toilet paper, light bulbs, bread, and milk. Me and several of my neighbors will come running across our front lawns waving $20 bills.

Poor Ice Cream Man, guy can't catch a break around here, that's for sure.

Come to my neighborhood Ice Cream man!!!....I won't complain about your prices or your timing or how loud the bell is or the packaging....I want my kids to be able to experience what I experienced as a child.

No, I want the Beer Truck Guy! His music could be some German Bier Garten Oompa music. Not that could be great! Ice Cold Beer, Ice Cold Beer...

Yes, I know there are LAWs about things like this- but I gotta dream!

There ya go, probably a million dollar business. . .a convenience store on wheels. . .all of those pesky little trips out would be saved. . .but still some of us would be complaining if the guy stocked coke products over pepsi:roll:

The ice cream man could make a fortune in my neighborhood. There used to be one that came by, but no more. If you know of one, let them know. But tell them to come after supper or early afternoon.
As for the ice cream. If we go by what all of you are saying we shouldn't eat, we would starve. Cause nobody cooks their own food anymore. I personally cook most of our meals, and use little prepackaged food. But, my kids will eat packaged ice cream, from a strange ice cream man. That used to be the highlight of my summer days to see if the ice cream truck would come. Of course, now, I sometimes close the doors and blinds quickly when I hear him coming. That's only when I don't have cash.

I'm wondering...does a person who operates ice cream truck business requires to have a license from Department of Health or Department of Agriculture? I think so because when I visited the D of A's website and there was a link on food safety and law license requirement before establishing the business. The freezer and fridge must have a specific temperature for each one to prevent from people getting sick.

We have ice cream truck coming here once or twice a day, but I think someone called the HOA and complained recently because we haven't seen him lately. Every time I see him, I have not see any license or any kind of health approval on his truck to sell ice creams. I personally don't feel comfortable having my child to buy it from him if he's not approved by D of H or D of A.

i totally agree - my kids all still have great memories of the ice cream man and now my grandkids do the same thing - when we were camping at the beach a couple of times this year the kids had a blast when the truck came around with ice cream (yeah i know, they also have ice, firewood, snacks, etc) but it was the ice cream music playing that has gone back 2 generations before them that they are getting to experience too:-D

Me too. As a child I loved the ice cream man coming down our street. My dad made $10,000 a year and the prices were 5 to 25 cents. The equivalent prices today for a father who makes $50,000 would be $0.25 to $1.25. Back then, gas was much higher than it is now in real dollars. Today our ice cream man charges as much for a popsicle as a whole carton of Breyers ice cream. In other words he's ripping off little kids.

Where's the old ice cream man?

Seriously now.............how hard would it be to start an ice cream truck business????????? That would actually be an ideal thing for the summer to do..........hmmmmm
