ready2cmyKing: thanks for sharing that video. It was great. I've heard some of Avalon's songs, but not that one.

    Personal Testimony and Challenge

Movie: Schindler's List – one of the most powerful movies you’ll ever see.

Characters: Rabbi Levartov (Ezra Dagan), Oskar Schindler (Liam Neeson), Itzhak Stern (Ben Kingsley)

This heart-wrenching dialogue happens after the surrender of Nazi Germany, when Oskar Schindler is questioning why he didn't do more to save more people.

Levartov: "We’ve written a letter trying to explain things. In case you’re captured. Every worker has signed it."

    Schindler: "Thank you."

Stern: "It’s Hebrew. It says, ‘Whoever saves one life, saves the world.’"

    Schindler: "I could’ve got more out … I could’ve got more … if I’d just … I don’t know, if I’d just … I could’ve got more…"

Stern: "Oskar, there are twelve hundred people who are alive because of you. Look at them."

Schindler: "If I’d made more money …I threw away so much money, you have no idea. If I’d just …"

Stern: "There will be generations because of what you did."

    Schindler: "I didn’t do enough."

    Stern: "You did so much."

Schindler: "This car. Goeth would’ve bought this car. Why did I keep the car? Ten people, right there, ten more I could’ve got. This pin – Two people. This is gold. Two more people. He would’ve given me two for it. At least one. He would’ve given me one. One more. One more person. A person, Stern. For this. One more. I could’ve gotten one more person I didn’t. They killed so many people … They killed so many people …"

Several years back when I heard this dialogue it cut me to the quick.

I felt like Oskar Schindler, looking back at all the money I’ve wasted over the years in various things such as nightclubbing as a young man and burning the candle from both ends having a good old time.

I could have used that money to sponsor a missionary, purchase food for a community kitchen, pay for some kid’s way to camp, help someone with their bills - the list goes on.

I did some of these things but look at what more I could have done.

Not long ago I was looking at an old calendar collection I had accumulated and I thought, “What a waste to put money in old calendars that just hang on the wall.” So I sold all but two of them and put that money where the Lord led me.

There’s a thread going titled “Today I am determined to make a difference” that was started by frugalmomoftwo.

    That’s where I stand, too.

Time is of the essence for me and I have a lot of ground to make up.

I encourage, you, my Christian brothers and sisters to reflect on your efforts in reaching those who don't have that blessed peace of knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal Savior.

See where you can increase your financial and personal resources such as your money, time and talents.

The consequences for those it will affect are eternal.

    harleygirl: welcome back.

It's been awhile since your first, brief visit to this thread.

If you feel led to do so, help me with your last statement. I'm not quite following you.

I'm pretty sure you're responding to my previous post, but I'm a little dense this morning after 3 night shifts until I get the cobwebs out.

Have a great and blessed rest of the day.

    Case Dismissed

After living a "decent" life, my time on earth came to an end.

The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table. As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor"; he was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen. I sat down and looked to my left and there sat my lawyer, a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed very familiar to me.

The corner door flew open and there appeared the judge in full flowing robes. He commanded an awesome presence as he moved across the room and I couldn't take my eyes off of him. As he took his seat behind the bench he said, "Let us begin."

The prosecutor rose and said, "My name is Satan and I am here to show you why this man belongs in Hell."

He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole in the past and when I cheated others. Satan told of other horrible perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the further down in my seat I sank. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't look at anyone, even my own lawyer, as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about.

Satan finished with a fury and said, "This man belongs in Hell, he is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person who can prove otherwise."

When it was his turn, my lawyer first asked if he might approach the bench. The judge allowed this, over the strong objection of Satan, and beckoned him to come forward. As he got up and started walking, I was able to see him now in his full splendor and majesty. Now I realized why he seemed so familiar, this was Jesus representing me, my Lord and my Savior. He stopped at the bench and spoke softly to the judge and then he turned to address the court.

"Satan was correct in saying that this man had sinned, I won't deny any of these allegations. And yes, the wages of sin is death and this man deserves to be punished." Jesus took a deep breath and turned to his Father with outstretched arms and proclaimed, "However, I died on the cross so that this person might have eternal life and he has accepted me as his Savior, so he is mine."

My Lord continued, "His name is written in the Book of Life and no one can snatch him from me. Satan still does not understand yet, this man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy." As Jesus sat down, he quietly paused, looked at his Father and replied, "There is nothing else that needs to be done, I've done it all."

The Judge lifted his mighty hand and slammed the gavel down and said the following words, "This man is free - the penalty for him has already been paid in full, case dismissed."

As my Lord led me away I could hear Satan ranting and raving, "I won't give up, I'll win the next one!"

I asked Jesus as he gave me my instructions on where to go next, "Have you ever lost a case?" Christ lovingly smiled and said, "Everyone that has come to me and asked me to represent them has received the same verdict as you...Paid in Full."

I'm drinking from my saucer cause my cup has overflowed!

    I've never made a fortune,
and it's probably too late now.
But I don't worry about that much,
    I'm happy anyhow.

And as I go along life's way,
I'm reaping better than I sowed.
    I'm drinking from my saucer,
    'Cause my cup has overflowed.

Haven't got a lot of riches,
    and sometimes the going's tough.
But I've got loving ones all around me,
and that makes me rich enough.

I thank God for his blessings,
    and the mercies He's bestowed.
    I'm drinking from my saucer,
    'Cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong,
    My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
and the sun peeped through again.

So Lord, help me not to gripe,
about the tough rows I have hoed.
    I'm drinking from my saucer,
    'Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage,
When the way grows steep and rough.
I'll not ask for other blessings,
    I'm already blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy,
to help others bear their loads.
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
    "Cause my cup has overflowed."

A thought for today from Dr. Adrian Rogers:

"When I got saved, I gave all that I knew of me to all I knew of Jesus. Since then, I have learned a whole lot more about me and a whole lot more about Jesus. And I've done more repenting and trusting AFTER I got saved than I did WHEN I got saved."

    On the Lighter Side...

This elderly minister just had all of his remaining teeth pulled and new dentures were being made.

The first Sunday, he only preached 10 minutes.
The second Sunday, he preached only 20 minutes.
But, on the third Sunday, he preached 1 hour 25 minutes.

When asked about this by some of the congregation, he responded this way.....

"The first Sunday, my gums were so sore it hurt to talk.

The second Sunday, my new dentures were still hurting some.

The third Sunday, I accidentally grabbed my wife's dentures...AND I COULDN'T STOP TALKING!"

    The Obedient Wife

There was a man who had worked all of his life and was a real miser when it came to his money.

Just before he died, he said to his wife, "When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me. I want to take my money to the afterlife with me."

So he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died she would put all of the money in the casket with him.

    Well, he died.

He was stretched out in the casket, his wife was sitting there in black, and her friend was sitting next to her.

When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said, "Wait just a minute!"

She had a box with her, she came over with the box and put it in the casket. Then the undertakers locked the casket down and they rolled it away.

So her friend said, "Girl, I know you weren't fool enough to put all that money in there with your husband."

The loyal wife replied, "Listen, I'm a Christian, I can't go back on my word. I promised him that I was going to put that money in that casket with him."

"You mean to tell me you put that money in the casket with him!!!!?"

"I sure did," said the wife. "I got it all together, put it into my account and wrote him a check. If he can cash it, he can spend it."
