So the past couple of months I have been stopping in to McKinleys for a couple of beers here and there. I started noticing that my bill was always a little higher than I had ainticipated so I started keeping track of the beers I was being served. They have been consistantly adding on one beer to my tab. Watch your tab if you stop in .
Noticed the other nite at the Draft house they did the same thing to mine and my friends tab.....Maybe just a mistake
And I'll hold mine about our last experience at your favorite place too  Can't say I have a problem with my tabs at McK's... being friends with the owner & bartenders is a bonus I guess (Kaci can relate w/regards to her "home" bar). I will say though, they have a new chef in the kitchen at McKinleys (and yes, he does have real chef experience... he just got tired of fancy hoity-toity restaurants and wanted somewhere more low key and relaxed to showcase his abilities). Howard is the bomb! He made salmon last night that rocked... it was grilled with a chipotle/orange bbq sauce that he made... OMG... add broccoli and garlic mashed 'taters...YUM! Thats a Sat. night special, they are trying to liven up the salmon on the menu. He also makes his own spaghetti sauce for a Monday night spaghetti special, and on Tuesdays he does a fantastic meatloaf (get it as a dinner or a sandwich). He's got lots of ideas for some nice menu changes.... I can't wait to taste more of them!! He also did an apple pie special dessert last night, it had a frangelico syrup sauce drizzled around it...another YUMMO!!
Yep, i gotcha girl and because of that is why i chose to hold my tongue:lol: i did speak to the owner about your experience and she wishes to make it right by you though, which is a positive thing.
Myself and a few other folks have not had very good food there lately. Bad soup, for starters. We have stopped going. Has been a couple months now.
Kaci wasn't talking about McKinley's, you know that's not her favorite place I've said my piece before about Mckinley's. We've always had terrible experiences in there (mostly because of two of the wait staff). It really doesn't help to "know" someone either, because one of my bf's husband is Eric's brother, so he's heard about our experiences first hand. With that said, last time we went in it was a much better experience. The two waitress weren't there (thank GOD) and Erin was (she's such a sweetie). Food is pretty good. It was refreshing to finally have a decent experience in there, but who knows how it will be next time if those other waitress still work there.
I don't frequent either place very often. The few times I've been to McKinley's have either been on a lunch hour, or at thier peak time on a Friday or Saturday night. And it's usually with a group of friends. Service and food have been decent, nothing to write home about, but nothing really to complain about either. The Clubhouse is an "okay" establishment in my book. It's a little too smokey in there for me during thier peak times, and I think that thier prices are a little high, but they have great cheese sticks.
<shrug> We almost always sit at the bar and have great service, especially when Erin is working. On Thursday nights we usually have dinner with DH's parents up there, and we almost always sit in Barbara's section and have great service from her. And if it's not Barbara, we usually get Beth or one of Erins daughters.. I love them all, they always provide us with great service.
I used to go there a couple times a week. I quit going when they got that guy who was a "manager." I don't know his name, but he was rude. I had a waitress who wasn't waiting on my table. I complained and he told me if I didn't like it I could leave. So I did, and never went back. I go to the Drafthouse now and they seem to appreciate my business more.
Watch credit card receipts too.. Last time I went the credit card receipt had the entire number on it. Per NC law, only the last 4 digits are to be printed on the receipt. Not sure if they changed it yet. Hope so.
Actually any merchants copy will usually have your entire number on it while the customers copy usually doesn't. There is a reason for this (atleast at resturants) is that when the card is initially swipped it is for the price of the meal only which excludes any tips. Once you have figured the tip amount and signed the ticket you normally would put the card back into your wallet and go about your merry way. Without the number there would be no way to actually add the tip (atleast that I am aware of though I'm not totally up to date on how the modern POS system works). And it's not just resturants that do this, I've seen it at haircut places, auto parts stores, but most often in resturants. Craig
I have had ok service there, but the food for the most part has been yummy. I only go there durning lunch because they have way too many drunks and smokers there at night.
