True southerners would never, ever use y'all as a singular. "Y'all" is a contraction of "you all". You would never refer to a single person as "all" (except maybe Sybil).

"Y'all" and "You all", used as a singular is only done by the likes of Lil Abner and Barney Google, both written by yankees.

You forgot one. Miss every woman married or not you have to call miss. I know when I was little if I forgot to say miss before saying their name it was bad manners.

I remember thinking that catching fire flies was a sport. I would go catfishin with my brothers at night and carry my mason jar so I could catch them then beg grandma to let me put that jar on my nightstand so I could watch their tails light up. She would make me leave them on the back porch everytime.

Doesn't anyone actually speak Southern anymore? "Fiddle dee dee" is a comment made out of frustration (sort of like saying "Oh fudge!").

It's becoming easier and easier to pick out the posers.

But you are using it incorrectly.

Watch the movie again and you'll see that the phrase is used out of frustration or as a way of saying "you don't know what your talking about".

"Fiddle-dee-dee. War, war, war; this war talk's spoiling all the fun at every party this spring. I get so bored I could scream. Besides, there isn't going to be any war."

"Marriage, fun? Fiddle-dee-dee. Fun for men you mean."

You might have watched "Gone With The Wind" a time or three, but that doesn't make you southern.

By the way, a movie that every true Southerner watches is "Smokie and the Bandit", and it wasn't on the list.

Hey, I just call them like I see them. It annoys me no end those who think that they're southern because they happen to be born in the south, and yet don't know the first thing about being southern. To top it off, they have to pass around a list of "rules" to remind each other.

A true "southern" gentleman should be more respectful of the southern women they come in contact with ??? ???

and not pick apart little things in life... LOL :)
