I just wanted to see what people's experience with Time Warner's digital phone service. My biggest concern is what happens in the event that the power is out for more than 4-5 hours. They give you a battery backup that will run the phone for a litttle while, but what happens when we have an ice storm, or hurricane? I realize there is also a chance that the regular phone lines are out, but was curious what other's experience's have been. Thanks!
i have Vonage because it was cheaper, we have had it for 2 1/2 years and am happy with it, I had Road Runner lite and it worked fine until TW dropped to 768 speed. now that I have bumped up the RR rate again, it works fine. As far as looking it when power is out, in the last few years I have read several times where the local Sprint line was down for HOURS and I have not had any outage like that, with Vonage, if it can't connect to your home line it will send to a designated alternate number (ie Cell Phone) so you don't miss any calls. We have had that happen a few times unexpectedly but never been a problem, I think with TW Digital Phone, there are different tiers where you have different free long-distance (in-state/out-state)
I have TWC and love them. If the power goes out for a long time I have my cells. Also I have an alarm system on the house so they gave me an extra long battery back up plus the one I have from the security company.
Digital Phone YOU got a battery pack? Huh, that's more than I ever got or offered. Besides, if your cable is out, then your phone is out. Not sure what good a back up battery is for the service that's not available. TW digital phone has worked well for us. Can be a bummer though if you don't have strong cell phone service as your back up. It's pricey though, I wish we had more competition in this area.
We love out Digital phone service from TWC...never had a problem. If the power goes out, we have two cells.
