I need to know how to get rid of iron in my well water. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Filter system would be my guess.

Yep, a filtering system gets my vote too. The home we used to live in over on Old Fairground Road had iron in the water. It was horrible. It turned all my whites this yucky orange color. Didn't take long to get that filtering system hooked up after that!!!

Do you have any suggestions on who installs this?

I had it bad. When the water in your spaghetti bubbles orange, it was time to do something. We had to have a triple filter system put in, serviced each month and was expensive. Thru experience, I would suggest tapping on to county water if possible. That was my best move, although I did get in on the early $75 tap fee. But I put it all in (run nearly 600 feet from the road), so I did not have any plumbing costs (other than materials).

John with A&E Water systems installed ours. It's a softener and we use salt pellets that reduce the iron. It works great. The salt is about $5 for a 40 pound bag, and we go through maybe 2 per month. Inital installation is of course expensive. I'm sorry, I can't remember how much but maybe in the neighborhood of $1500? When we had ours installed, county water was not an option. If you want John's number I'll dig it up. I think he's in Angier.

You need a water softner. They are fairly easy to install if you have someone with basic plumbing knowledge. You can buy one at Lowe's or Home Depot.
