There is a new childcare center that has opened up at exit 319 and I-40. My husband and I were at McDonald's and started driving around and saw it last week! We checked the place out yesterday afternoon and our son is starting next week. The name of the center is Crossroads Academy and they are right behind the bank (State Employees Credit Union)! I am excited! P.S. Just checked my paperwork and the number is 919-934-1430
What are their credentials? How long have their teachers been in daycare? What is their rating? Frogger
Wow! that was quick! The center just opened this past Monday. They will get their star rating after 6 months. The director we spoke with was very pleasant and answered all of my husbands questions. The directors we spoke with was named Tracy. She has been working in childcare for 10 plus years. She is just about done with her degree in Early Childcare. They have 4 teachers on staff and will be hiring more as enrollment grows. We met two of the teachers. The infant teacher has been working in childcare and showed great attention to the children. Very sweet personality. We also met the preschool teacher. She has children of her own and has worked with children for many years. Both of them have their NC Credentials. I felt comfortable within minutes. That really tells me something. My son felt comfortable and he is a shy guy! Right now my son is still in a Raleigh center. We really did not want to move him unless we found something worth it. We are from N. Raleigh and moved to this area about 5 months ago. If you have ideas for family type activities out in this area, I am looking! Just got on 4042.com this morning to try to find out things to do from people that live here. Sue
Welcome, SMC, to the area and the board. Yeah, things can happen hyper-quick around here. Don't pay attention to some of the stuff that's thrown around here, tho. Just ignore and enjoy! Frogger
All daycare is high...This area is cheaper than Wake county and the savings is good in comparison. I called 4 centers in the 40 and 42 area and they were either the same or higher. I wish I could stay at home with my son but....Its a nice center and we felt very comfortable there. I will try to post back with how it goes after we start! Its good to share this information with other parents. Thanks for all the information. Sue
For few hours every now and than Does anyone know of a place where I can drop my 2 year old for a few hours so I can volunteer/go on field trips/sub, etc. 4042 and Cleveland area would be nice and hopefully something inexpensive. Thanks Ro
I would love to know about that to, Ro! Wonder if there is a licensed home center or drop in care in the area that would do that? Sue
I've used Screamin Mimi's in the Clayton Walmart plaza for my kids, and they do seem to enjoy it. My kids are almost 5 and 7. When they were smaller, I used Up and Away Indoor Play several times. It was OK in a pinch. Just a suggestion, but I belong to a group of moms called Mothers Unlimited and we have a lot of fun. Also, there is a babysitting co-op. Go to www.mothersunlimited.com . It started out as a group in Clayton, but has now grown to chapters at 40/42, Smithfield, and Garner.
