My grandmothers well that has served her well (pun intended) has run dry for the first time in 60 years! Anyone else?
i would say yes, considering his well supply is probably tapped into the same underground source as your well is, assuming you're close together and barring unusual geographical features....
Wells are based on water table. If your neighbors are depleting the water table then they will have an effect on yours.
Ours started sputtering... I went ahead and signed up for county water against my better judgement... just in case!!
It also depends on how the well was done. Be it drilled or bored. Drilled wells have a tendancy of being much deeper and pulling from a deeper water source than a bored well that is say 30-50" deep which usually if grabbing the "surface" water table. When I first moved to Clayton we had our well drilled on our property down to a total of 312 feet deep, and it tapped into a water vein that would pump water out of the top of the well 9-10 months out of the year, meanwhile the neighbor's well was bored and was only 38 feet deep and would get muddy and sandy during the heat of the summer months if we went too long without rain. This is really making me nervous!! How do I know if my well is drilled or bored & how deep? We were not the first owners of this house and it is about 15 years old now.
Well that's good to know. Bet it's expensive...cheaper than a new well I guess or tapping into county water.
The good news according to wral.com could be: "A large high pressure system moving out of New England by week's end may actually help steer this potential tropical system back towards North Carolina. There is the possibility if this does happen, we could see a tropical storm or hurricane approaching this weekend." Bring it on!
YEah! I saw that weather report too. PLEASE....let it come this way!! No damage please, just a few days of serious rain!!
At this point, ANY rain is more than welcome! Our well is still kicking, for now, but it does worry me some. Clean clothes? Who needs 'em if the shower is gonna be out anyway!
I have sand in my bathtub. Neighbor has been watering his lawn from 6 this morning. Still watering as I type.
Gotta have green grass you know!!! Can you sneak over and turn it off?? People like that make me angry.
