I've been wondering about schools too, since Little One may be moving out of Polenta district...

I've heard some elementary schools have chorus and teach languages. She'd like to stay with chorus but what's more important to her is French. Is there an elementary school around here that teaches French?

As far as Polenta goes...I'll have to hold my opinion this year, since there's a new sherriff in town. She and I didn't see eye-to-eye last year so I'm not a good judge right now on the school as a whole.

    Frogger,

You know that I value your candor and wisdom. I especially appreciate your reaching out to me recently over my gal, Madison...

FWIW, I've only heard positives about the new sheriff, which supplements the experience I've had over the years.

    I'm not dismissing your point.

I'm so impressed with the new sheriff, that I agreed to come down from my perch and volunteered to join the Parent Advisory Board at PES. If I didn't believe in the school and it's potential, I wouldn't have done so.

I see great things happening at Polenta.

I understand Riverdell is an excellent school, but TripleS is not. I moved out of that area, the school was a big factor on where to buy a home. Hope it helps.

    Lord catch me, I'm swooning!!! J/K, hon :-D .

H6, I respect you too. I decided at the beginning of August to hold my tongue and just see what happens. I have nothing positive or negative to say. I don't want my personal feelings from last year sway someone else. Not to objective yet.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Hopefully that will help the person who started this thread.

I can only tell you from my experience and the experience of some very close friends.

West Clayton Elementary, Cleveland Elementary, Clayton Middle, Cleveland Middle and West Johnston are excellent schools.

River Dell is good. SSS will no longer be the High School once new one is built in the next year or 2.

Well two years ago the elementary schools were redistricted and at that time the school board told me that the middle school's would also be redistricted (to line up with the elementary schools) in the upcoming years. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't sit down and do a thought out redistricting plan, because a lot of they way they have it now doesn't make that much sense.

I'm sure as new schools are built they will have to be.. the new high school will cause this and the new middle school probably had some this year as well..

I can only speak for Polenta and Riverwood. My daughter was in Kindergarten at Polenta. I absolutely loved that school. I really loved the principal Ms. Nettles and the teaching staff. She had a really strict but wonderful teacher, Ms. Thomas and her TA Ms. Barefoot. We had a really great first year experience. We moved to Riverwood, so now she goes to Riverwood. It is a really great school also but we still miss Polenta. My daughter really liked Ms. Johnson, who is now the new principal at Polenta. When we moved we wanted to make sure that we stayed in the Clayton school district. I have heard great things about the other Clayton schools also, West View, Dixon, Cleveland, West Clayton, etc.
