Just a quick FYI to cover some of the details about the updated 4042.com. First, many thanks for the kind words posted here and the e-mailed comments we have received about the upgrade. They are very much appreciated- and you have OUR thanks for visiting 4042.com and making it a great place to hang out on the web. After 7 years we still get a daily kick out of seeing what will happen next! The site redesign had a few basic goals in mind: - make the site easier to manage so we could add additional features - design it to load and operate as fast as possible (we hate to wait too!) - update the "look" (yeah...we know. It had a face only a mother could love!) - increase LOCAL news content To do this, we stripped the site down to the basics and since the relaunch we have been watching for "glitches" and making tweaks in the background. So far, so good. 4042.com is operating on a new, whiz bang server that has plenty of horsepower to handle the load and keep things operating fast. As everything checks out, we will continue to introduce other features and new items over the upcoming months. Below are a few things we wanted to point out about the new setup: 1. To add events to the new Community Calendar, you must first register. There is a "Register" link at the top of the page, right next to "Login". Once you have completed this process, you can add events to the calendar at any time. The new calendar program allows you to: a. Create events for the calendar b. Edit or delete your event after it has been posted c. Add web links, to your event d. Use text attributes (bold, italics, etc.) e. Upload an image to accompany your event posting http://www.4042.com/cal/calendar.php 2. The Business Directory is now sorted into Categories to make it easier to locate the listing you are searching for. In addition, each business also has a "map it" link now that allows you to easily get directions. http://www.4042.com/4042ads/advertise/ad_dir.php 3. We are expanding our offering of games, with the first new one being 4042.com Solitaire. Each of our new games will have the ability to save high scores for a little competition between players. Give it a try yourself! http://www.4042.com/4042games/games.php More games on the way! 4. Weather - the new system we have installed operates much faster than the old one and has additional features. Besides the standard forecasts, etc., it also provides very good radar images. (Check out the "Radar" option on the menu bar.) http://www.4042.com/4042weather/index.php As you may have noticed - severe weather warnings or alerts for our area are automatically scrolled on the homepage (below the menu bar) when they are active. 5. When viewing stories in our 4042.com Local News section, on each individual story you will see in the top, right hand corner two icons: Clicking on this one will allow you to print the story you are viewing Clicking on this one will allow you to e-mail someone a link to the story Again, thanks for spending some of your time here at 4042.com!
Yo! Webhead! Let me just say, on behalf of those of us whose companies deemed it necessary to remove solitaire from our PC's.......... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
Hmmmm....both of those are Flash games, so if one works so should the other. Anybody else having a problem with it starting....? I'll check into it.
Nope. It looks like it's going to open, and then it just ... doesn't. The center of the screen is blank. I thought Firefox might be blocking it, so I turned off the adblocker for this site, but it still doesn't work. Then when you added Sudoku, I tried that, and was pleasantly surprised that it came right up.
nup ... I also noticed that it says sudoku were it should say solitaire ...maybe because I use mozilla?
Hmmmm....as for the game not showing, the only thing I can think of is the version of the Flash player that is installed on your computer. Please try updating to the latest version (v9 I believe) if you aren't running it and see if that doesn't clear up the issue. You can get the player here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash NOTE!! If you DON'T want the Google toolbar installed in your browser, make sure you "uncheck" that box so you only get the Flash player. BTW, if you have the lastest Flash player and still having problems accessing any of the games, please let me know: 1. What browser and version you are using. 2 What operating system you are using (Windows XP, Vista, etc.) 3. If you are using any Internet protection suite (Symantec, MacAfee, etc.) From every computer I have been able to test on the games show up without a problem so this is a head scratcher! Thanks!
