I have some cousins in Michigan that are in the house moving business. They don't look like they have alot of money but let's just say they are not hurting for money at all. It is a VERY profitable business.
Either HGTV or TLC had a few of their shows on moving a house. It was around $40k to move a house. I was amazed at the amount of work involved, not just moving the house, but making sure trees were either cut down or trimmed, utility lines in intersections were taken down if needed, etc.
The house is still in the McGee family . So the house was not "free" Moving the house is costing close to $100k & then the land was bought for $120k. Then once the house is there it has to be renovated. They wanted to be able to keep the house in the family. Really this money is a drop in the bucket when you see how much the land at 50/210 will sell for .............right now the last offer was 3.5 million That'd be alot of mula!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hmmm let's seeee..... I figure there is a Walmart about every ten miles or so, regardless of which direction you're going .... How far is that from the Walmart planned for 4042?
No NO walmart It is prime property right now. That was the last offer on the table by some corporation. That is all I know for right now. The house was moved this morning one part is there right now. They had a pretty tough time of it. Trying to turn into a little drive than going up a steep dirt hill.
From personal experience, I priced having a small (@1300 sq. ft.) house moved about 2 years ago. To go about 6 miles, I got quotes from $8500 up to about $15,000. Price varies accordig to size, height, mileage, the route, fireplaces, etc. If you do your homework, it can be profitable. The biggest problem around here is land to relocate on. Raw land is so expensive, developements have restrictions.
